Hey y'all! Join us as we discuss the My Hero Academia episode "Relief for License Trainees", including disappointing corn, magical girl moments, and cryptic messages written in cheese. Want more? Visit our website, myheroanalysis.com. Thanks for listening!

[00:00:00] Hey y'all, this podcast contains cursing, references to alcohol, marijuana, and other

[00:00:05] drugs, and thirsty comments about adult characters.

[00:00:08] Thanks for listening!

[00:00:22] Hey y'all, this is My Hero Analysis, a podcast about My Hero Academia, aka Boku no Hero Academia.

[00:00:29] We are three grown adults who mind Japanese children's cartoons for serotonin because God

[00:00:34] knows our brains aren't making it naturally.

[00:00:37] Amen.

[00:00:38] Hey y'all, I'm Fern and I'm here.

[00:00:42] I'm here.

[00:00:42] I'm tired.

[00:00:44] Yeah.

[00:00:45] Yeah.

[00:00:45] Life has been a lot.

[00:00:47] Yeah.

[00:00:48] Yeah.

[00:00:49] You and your special chaos crystal.

[00:00:52] Yes.

[00:00:53] Yes.

[00:00:53] Well, the chaos crystal was not the catalyst.

[00:00:59] It's just helping.

[00:01:02] No, actually things have calmed down since I got it, but well, for now.

[00:01:07] Reverse chaos.

[00:01:09] Yeah.

[00:01:09] Yeah.

[00:01:10] Anyway, for those who can't tell, I got Moldavite.

[00:01:12] It's great.

[00:01:13] Um, but yeah, my life was in shambles and is now stable again for now.

[00:01:20] And I am tired.

[00:01:21] For now.

[00:01:22] For now.

[00:01:24] Well, I'm Nicole.

[00:01:26] Um, my life is also stable and boring and I am not going to bring Moldavite into it because

[00:01:32] I like how quiet it is.

[00:01:34] Um, also I'm in denial about how few chapters we have left.

[00:01:39] I'm sad.

[00:01:40] Oh yeah.

[00:01:40] Let's.

[00:01:41] Nope.

[00:01:42] Don't.

[00:01:42] Not thinking about it.

[00:01:45] It's so close.

[00:01:46] I'm enjoying the anxiety.

[00:01:50] Hey y'all.

[00:01:50] It's Maria.

[00:01:51] And I am turning 31 in a week and a half and I'm enjoying the last week of being 30.

[00:01:58] And it's crazy.

[00:01:59] Like how has this year gone already?

[00:02:01] Who am I?

[00:02:02] What am I?

[00:02:04] Like.

[00:02:04] Yay.

[00:02:05] 31.

[00:02:06] Yay.

[00:02:06] Badass.

[00:02:07] That's what you are.

[00:02:09] Uh, I've mostly been a hermit to be honest.

[00:02:12] Yeah.

[00:02:13] Badass.

[00:02:13] You too.

[00:02:15] Compared to like my normal everyday like brain and life.

[00:02:20] I also have the chaos crystal.

[00:02:22] I found it.

[00:02:23] Um, I needed a little pizzazz in my life.

[00:02:28] Pizzazz.

[00:02:30] Yeah.

[00:02:31] It got, it was getting too stagnant for me, but you know, we're doing great.

[00:02:36] The first day was, uh, intense.

[00:02:39] Yes.

[00:02:40] It was really funny though.

[00:02:42] Um, also I did these notes while having a raspberry cheesecake cookie from Subway.

[00:02:47] Cause those cookies are the shit.

[00:02:49] And I have another one as a snack.

[00:02:51] Ooh, that sounds delicious.

[00:02:53] I don't think I've ever had that.

[00:02:54] They're so good.

[00:02:56] Hmm.

[00:02:57] All right.

[00:02:58] Well, do you have anything else for your recording snack?

[00:02:59] Or is it just the cookie?

[00:03:01] No, it's not just a cookie.

[00:03:02] It's never just a cookie.

[00:03:04] Um, I'm eating the Mexican corn mix.

[00:03:08] Uh, from, uh, travel mix from Target.

[00:03:12] It's not as good as I thought it was going to be.

[00:03:14] Huh.

[00:03:15] It's disappointing.

[00:03:17] Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:03:18] But I gotta eat it.

[00:03:19] Cause I bought it.

[00:03:21] Yeah.

[00:03:21] Yeah.

[00:03:22] I feel that.

[00:03:24] However, I do also have, um, their, the Target strawberry mango sparkling water.

[00:03:31] Ooh.

[00:03:32] It's delicious.

[00:03:33] Their sparkling waters are incredible.

[00:03:35] My favorite is their, like, pomegranate something or the other.

[00:03:39] Ooh.

[00:03:40] I like the, uh, the cucumber mint one.

[00:03:43] Haven't tried that one yet, but I'll add it to my-

[00:03:45] Oh, it's so refreshing.

[00:03:46] Cause I love cucumber mint.

[00:03:48] Mm-hmm.

[00:03:49] So yeah, that's my snack.

[00:03:50] All right.

[00:03:51] Well, that sounds mostly delicious other than the disappointing corn.

[00:03:57] Disappointing corn.

[00:04:00] Um, but as for news, we do have some news, which will no longer be relevant by the time

[00:04:05] this episode airs, but I don't care.

[00:04:08] Our new site is live.

[00:04:10] It's a lot better looking than the old one, uh, does things that we actually need it to

[00:04:15] do.

[00:04:15] And thank God, because, uh, it turns out transferring a domain is like hella complicated.

[00:04:20] And it took me two weeks.

[00:04:22] And most of that was just sitting and waiting for someone in an office to decide to release

[00:04:28] the domain.

[00:04:29] The internet is stupid, uh, but also you did amazing.

[00:04:33] Good job.

[00:04:34] Thank you.

[00:04:35] Honestly, I had no idea our new site was live, but I've been living under a rock.

[00:04:39] So yeah.

[00:04:40] Wait, did I forget to mention that in the group chat?

[00:04:42] I'm pretty sure you did.

[00:04:44] Whoops.

[00:04:45] Sorry.

[00:04:46] Yeah.

[00:04:47] I've just been vibing over here.

[00:04:50] Oh my God.

[00:04:51] Yeah.

[00:04:51] Sorry.

[00:04:52] Uh, definitely meant to do that.

[00:04:56] Yep.

[00:04:57] Nope.

[00:04:57] Had no idea.

[00:04:59] Uh, my bad.

[00:04:59] Well, we have a new site.

[00:05:00] Also, it's cheaper than the old one.

[00:05:02] So, you know, hell yeah.

[00:05:04] Yay.

[00:05:04] Yay.

[00:05:06] There's, there's no other news other than me just crying about the fact that I, I did

[00:05:11] these notes just after watching episode 149 and also after reading the most recent chapter.

[00:05:18] So on the day I did these notes, I, I was a mess.

[00:05:22] Uh, but today I'm just tired and my feet hurt.

[00:05:25] So we'll see how those two energies mesh together.

[00:05:31] Yeah.

[00:05:31] That is, that is a double oof.

[00:05:34] Uh, yeah.

[00:05:35] Things are, things are intense.

[00:05:38] They are.

[00:05:39] Mm-hmm.

[00:05:40] So fortunately things are going to be a little lighter in this episode.

[00:05:44] Uh, this week we're covering episode 17 of My Hero Academia season 4, Relief for Licensed

[00:05:51] Trainees, which in the manga is chapters 166 through 168.

[00:05:56] And as usual, I'm going to lead us through a synopsis.

[00:05:59] Then do we have a science corner, Maria?

[00:06:02] No science.

[00:06:04] No science.

[00:06:05] Yeah.

[00:06:06] No science.

[00:06:07] Only sleep.

[00:06:08] It was sleep.

[00:06:09] Well, I, I also did these during my lunch break right before a big meeting.

[00:06:12] No time for science.

[00:06:16] Nope.

[00:06:18] So then Nicole will jump in for discussion topics, manga differences, and Easter eggs,

[00:06:23] and then we'll wrap up the episode with our big spoiler section.

[00:06:26] So getting into the synopsis, we're still in the remedial training arc.

[00:06:31] Thank God.

[00:06:33] The school children attack the trainees with their quirks and chaos ensues.

[00:06:38] Uh, the quirks are, as they said, very strong.

[00:06:41] And Mike is quite impressed.

[00:06:44] And we get another mention of the quirk doomsday theory that I don't like.

[00:06:50] Um, and then a few of the people who are observing wonder if they should step in to help.

[00:06:55] But Gong Orca, he's like, nah, this is a good learning experience.

[00:06:58] We should just let them get beat up.

[00:07:01] Let, let them get slapped around.

[00:07:03] Yes.

[00:07:03] Um, also, one of the children has, like, a full-out electricity and magnetic burst quirk instead of one or the other.

[00:07:11] And I feel like his, his hero name should be Solar Flare because I feel like that's just exactly, he's just the sun.

[00:07:18] Um, he's, he's just, like, a really powerful EMP and I'm scared of him.

[00:07:23] Oh, he's definitely going to be recruited into the military.

[00:07:26] He does not have a choice.

[00:07:28] Oh, yeah.

[00:07:28] Yeah, they, they just literally went full power.

[00:07:31] Go.

[00:07:32] Mm-hmm.

[00:07:33] Mm-hmm.

[00:07:34] Power Rangers unite.

[00:07:36] Exactly.

[00:07:37] Uh, however, the trainees are unscathed despite all the attacks.

[00:07:42] But the ringleader convinces the others to try again.

[00:07:46] One tries to attack Shoto and Cami uses her illusion quirk to distract her and it's great.

[00:07:53] And this makes the ringleader nervous about their chances of winning.

[00:07:56] Yes, but most importantly, we get the glamor-oki and beautiful Bakugo screencaps and the memes that came from them and they are perfect every time.

[00:08:07] Yep, yep, yep.

[00:08:08] Bakugo is losing it.

[00:08:11] Also, I think this is a turning point for Bakugo and Shoto's relationship, I swear.

[00:08:17] Yeah.

[00:08:17] Oh my god, how could it not be?

[00:08:19] The cascade of embarrassing things never ends.

[00:08:24] Uh, so finally, the trainees find the kids kryptonite.

[00:08:28] Fun!

[00:08:28] Inasa and Shoto create a fun ice slide.

[00:08:32] Cami makes pretty aurora borealis lights, etc., etc.

[00:08:37] And then Katsuki has this quick little heart-to-heart with the ringleader about being a douchebag.

[00:08:43] So, the trainees have succeeded in finding a way to reach the kids without demoralizing them.

[00:08:49] So, good job, kiddos.

[00:08:51] Yes, yes.

[00:08:53] Yes.

[00:08:53] Um, the ringleader kid, he had like a full-on magical girl moment as he was being lifted to the top of the ice slide.

[00:09:01] I feel like this is a universal anime thing.

[00:09:07] There's always that one magical girl moment.

[00:09:10] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:11] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:11] It needs to be in every property, not just anime.

[00:09:15] Yep.

[00:09:15] Also, at one point, Cami says to Bakugo, you're actually not that bad if you don't talk, so try shutting up.

[00:09:23] Ha!

[00:09:25] I had to pause it and just cackle.

[00:09:29] Um, and also, Katsuki's response, or like not response, he literally says, you shut up.

[00:09:36] Oh my god.

[00:09:38] Like he's still in middle school.

[00:09:40] What a child.

[00:09:40] She's such an idiot.

[00:09:41] Oh, oh.

[00:09:44] You, Bakugo, you found your match that you cannot actually beat, and it's just a badass bimbo.

[00:09:50] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:51] Yep.

[00:09:51] Bimbo power cannot be underestimated.

[00:09:54] No.

[00:09:55] Amen.

[00:09:55] They're the strongest.

[00:09:56] Also-

[00:09:57] They should have no fear.

[00:09:58] No fear.

[00:09:59] Nope.

[00:10:00] And also, I don't know how I didn't put it together before, but I feel like Bakugo and

[00:10:06] Cami could totally like bond over their League of Villains, like kidnapping, shared trauma.

[00:10:12] But that's kind of only depending on what Cami actually remembers, because it's unclear what

[00:10:18] she does and doesn't know about what actually happened.

[00:10:21] Wait, I thought they just made her go to sleep for a while.

[00:10:24] I didn't realize they actually kidnapped her.

[00:10:26] Well, yeah, but it was like trauma caused by the LOV, and it was over multiple days.

[00:10:33] Like it's bond if they want to.

[00:10:36] Sure.

[00:10:36] Sounds good.

[00:10:37] The internet has corrupted me.

[00:10:41] You said LOV, and I was thinking of LOVE.

[00:10:44] Sure.

[00:10:45] I don't know what that's from, but I support you.

[00:10:47] I don't either.

[00:10:47] I'm sorry.

[00:10:49] It's the song.

[00:10:50] Oh, okay.

[00:10:51] Cool.

[00:10:52] It was on TikTok for a while ago.

[00:10:54] Oh, yeah.

[00:10:55] So Endeavor also learns a valuable lesson about how Force isn't the answer to every problem,

[00:11:02] especially when children are involved, sir.

[00:11:06] He's so stupid.

[00:11:08] Oh, God.

[00:11:08] He's so dumb.

[00:11:09] So then he tries a different approach when he interacts with Shoto, which is just incredibly

[00:11:15] awkward for everyone involved.

[00:11:16] But you know what?

[00:11:17] You got to start somewhere.

[00:11:18] So first step is going to be a little shaky.

[00:11:21] That's fine.

[00:11:22] Inasa approaches Endeavor and says he's rooting for him, and that's supposed to be like closing

[00:11:28] up that whole storyline where Inasa didn't like Endeavor because he was rude.

[00:11:33] Endeavor has zero clue what that was all about.

[00:11:37] He has no idea who Inasa is.

[00:11:39] Yeah.

[00:11:40] Yeah.

[00:11:40] He's just like, thanks, kid.

[00:11:43] But he thanks him anyway.

[00:11:45] Also, at one point, Endeavor is reaching out to Shoto physically, and Shoto just slaps

[00:11:52] his hand away.

[00:11:53] It's beautiful.

[00:11:54] It's wonderful.

[00:11:55] But also, it was really sweet.

[00:11:57] If you watch carefully, Shoto, he does want to believe that Endeavor could possibly do this.

[00:12:05] But also, Endeavor's just a bitch.

[00:12:08] Also, Inasa just punched himself before speaking to Endeavor.

[00:12:13] Yep.

[00:12:13] I was very confused.

[00:12:16] I, why?

[00:12:17] He's just a passionate lad.

[00:12:19] Yep.

[00:12:20] But anyways, yeah, Shoto, slap that hand away.

[00:12:23] Fuck you, Endeavor.

[00:12:24] You crusty ass face.

[00:12:25] Yeah.

[00:12:25] Also, Inasa should have punched Endeavor's face instead of his own.

[00:12:30] Yeah.

[00:12:30] Fuck him.

[00:12:31] Yeah.

[00:12:31] I feel like Inasa broke several of his own teeth.

[00:12:35] Just do that to Endeavor.

[00:12:37] I know we have an Endeavor-centric episode coming up, and I am dreading it.

[00:12:43] No, this is your time to shine.

[00:12:45] You can just let out all the fury.

[00:12:46] But I have to see his face for an entire fucking episode.

[00:12:50] Yeah, but then you get to yell at him for an entire fucking episode.

[00:12:54] Yeah, and his, I mean, spoilers, or not spoilers, because I feel like it aired several

[00:12:59] years ago now, but you get to see his face fucked up.

[00:13:03] It's great.

[00:13:04] Still, that's too much Endeavor exposure.

[00:13:10] Okay, we'll give you that one.

[00:13:12] Also, there was this bit about Yue and Shiketsu working more closely in the future now, because

[00:13:17] the League of Villains targeted one of their kids, too.

[00:13:21] So they're like, oh, it's not just Yue.

[00:13:23] We have to do something about this.

[00:13:25] We're involved now, so I guess we'll help.

[00:13:28] Thanks, Shiketsu.

[00:13:30] Also, we learned at one point when Kami is babbling, and I've listened to all of Kami's

[00:13:35] babbling, because they're all important.

[00:13:36] Oh, you need to.

[00:13:37] But basically, she was just yapping, as the youth say, about how Shiketsu is old-fashioned,

[00:13:43] and apparently doesn't let their students date.

[00:13:47] So I need a shuju set at Shiketsu now, because how are they enforcing that?

[00:13:52] What is going on?

[00:13:53] I need answers.

[00:13:54] So much secret dating.

[00:13:56] So much secret dating.

[00:13:58] I need it in my life.

[00:13:59] I wonder if that's all part of their plan to train these students, is to make them do

[00:14:06] stuff in secret and make sure they don't get caught.

[00:14:09] Maybe.

[00:14:10] For, I don't know, undercover missions or something.

[00:14:12] If they're smart enough to think of that way and not just a bunch of old men saying, ooh,

[00:14:18] no dating.

[00:14:18] Girls.

[00:14:18] It's icky.

[00:14:19] That's true.

[00:14:21] I'm giving them way too much benefit of the doubt.

[00:14:24] Yeah.

[00:14:24] Also, from the one little interaction that Meatball Guy and Cami had, I ship them.

[00:14:30] He's in love with her so much.

[00:14:32] It's embarrassing.

[00:14:35] And everyone around them knows.

[00:14:37] Oh, yeah.

[00:14:38] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:14:38] Oh, yeah.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:40] Poor Meatball Kid.

[00:14:42] And then Cami has her bimbo nest.

[00:14:43] She's like, brain, off into another world.

[00:14:46] Yeah.

[00:14:47] Doesn't even notice because everyone she knows has a crush on her.

[00:14:50] Why would that even register?

[00:14:51] Nope.

[00:14:52] All right.

[00:14:53] So, back to the episode.

[00:14:55] Time passes.

[00:14:56] Night Eye's funeral is held.

[00:14:58] Work studies are put on pause for obvious reasons.

[00:15:01] And Eri finally wakes up, but unfortunately, she isn't ready for visitors.

[00:15:06] She's still a little unstable.

[00:15:08] Yes.

[00:15:09] And of course, Midoriya steals Night Eye's poster.

[00:15:11] Possibly.

[00:15:12] Yes.

[00:15:13] That's true.

[00:15:13] That's true.

[00:15:15] So then we cut to class 1A and the kids are going to lunch.

[00:15:19] Aoyama shoves cheese in Izuku's face.

[00:15:21] And then declines an invitation to eat lunch with everyone because he prefers eating alone.

[00:15:27] Then we cut to that night.

[00:15:29] Izuku is trying to sleep.

[00:15:30] But Aoyama sneaks out onto his balcony and leaves an incredibly cryptic message in cheese that says,

[00:15:38] I know.

[00:15:39] And Izuku flips the fuck out, thinking he's talking about one for all.

[00:15:45] Yeah.

[00:15:45] Yeah.

[00:15:46] It's amazing.

[00:15:47] It's the best scene in the show.

[00:15:49] But also, also very important.

[00:15:52] At one point, Tokoyami says, math is truly a cursed subject.

[00:15:56] And I died.

[00:15:58] And then, I think it was ectoplasm, said Izuku's answer was just incorrect.

[00:16:05] And I just died at both of them.

[00:16:07] I don't know why.

[00:16:08] It was hilarious.

[00:16:09] The comedic timing.

[00:16:11] Yes.

[00:16:11] I have completely forgotten all about integrals.

[00:16:14] I've blocked it out at this point because it is unnecessary.

[00:16:18] Right?

[00:16:19] I was looking at it and I was like, I've definitely seen stuff like that before.

[00:16:22] But I do not remember what it means.

[00:16:24] Yeah.

[00:16:25] I was a math whiz once upon a time.

[00:16:28] Right?

[00:16:29] My brain is like, nah.

[00:16:31] My brains are soup now.

[00:16:32] Yeah.

[00:16:33] I never saw that math.

[00:16:35] I could have sworn he was doing physics on the board because I got to pre-calc, turned to page one of the textbook and had a nervous breakdown.

[00:16:44] Aw.

[00:16:44] I'm sorry.

[00:16:45] I never took anything more complicated or as complicated than pre-calc.

[00:16:51] I went up to calc three.

[00:16:54] Girl.

[00:16:56] How?

[00:16:57] She did science.

[00:16:58] I don't get it.

[00:17:00] I don't necessarily.

[00:17:00] Okay.

[00:17:01] So I did engineering first.

[00:17:02] I turned it off in engineering.

[00:17:03] Oh, yeah.

[00:17:03] That's right.

[00:17:04] Oh, my God.

[00:17:05] And we needed up to calc.

[00:17:06] No, I think we needed up to like differential equations.

[00:17:09] What?

[00:17:10] But I got out of it before I took that class because I was not a math.

[00:17:14] But I still took calc three.

[00:17:16] Twice.

[00:17:17] Oh, my God.

[00:17:18] I can't.

[00:17:19] It literally, literally did not compute.

[00:17:23] I know.

[00:17:25] I took one math class in my entire college career.

[00:17:29] It was intro to statistics.

[00:17:31] It was the easiest thing ever.

[00:17:33] And then I was just like, whatevs.

[00:17:36] Time to write essays.

[00:17:38] Yeah.

[00:17:38] Yeah.

[00:17:38] I took six.

[00:17:40] Christ.

[00:17:41] That's horrible.

[00:17:42] It's fine.

[00:17:43] It's fine.

[00:17:43] It's what I get for being in the sciences.

[00:17:45] Yep.

[00:17:46] Well, anyway, in the dub, Aoyama actually declines.

[00:17:53] Like, instead of saying he wants to eat alone, he says that he declines because Lundfresh's

[00:17:58] food doesn't agree with his refined palate.

[00:18:02] Like, okay, nerd.

[00:18:04] You just don't want to eat with your new crush, Ida, after the provisional license exam.

[00:18:09] Um, you dork.

[00:18:12] Also, I forgot about the whole horror music.

[00:18:17] Oh, my God.

[00:18:18] Of the balcony scene.

[00:18:19] It was hilarious.

[00:18:22] Cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese.

[00:18:27] Oh, God.

[00:18:29] But yeah, Bones went whole hog on that sequence.

[00:18:33] They just.

[00:18:35] It was perfect.

[00:18:38] Oh, they put everything they had into it.

[00:18:41] An Oscar or whatever the TV equivalent is.

[00:18:44] I don't know.

[00:18:44] I don't know either.

[00:18:45] I don't care.

[00:18:46] Um.

[00:18:49] Oh, Lord.

[00:18:50] Uh, so we cut to the next day.

[00:18:53] Class 1A are working on their ultimate moves.

[00:18:55] And Izuku and Aoyama finally talk.

[00:18:58] And it turns out Aoyama was not trying to threaten Izuku.

[00:19:02] He was trying to imply that he and Izuku have something in common.

[00:19:07] Their quirks are incompatible with their bodies.

[00:19:10] This revelation leads to Izuku and Aoyama bonding more, becoming good friends.

[00:19:16] And Mina notes that Aoyama seems much happier now.

[00:19:20] They're all dorks.

[00:19:22] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:23] And they're just dork best friends.

[00:19:25] Um, also, during this little part, Team Lurkers was established.

[00:19:30] And I also need their office drama spinoff show.

[00:19:35] Yes.

[00:19:35] So, Horikoshi, get on that.

[00:19:38] Also, at some point, Aoyama was, like, doing something fancy with his laser.

[00:19:43] And he was literally just showing off for Izuku.

[00:19:46] Like, goddamn, Aoyama, bro, your crushes.

[00:19:51] Please calm down.

[00:19:52] Ugh, he couldn't.

[00:19:54] Yep, yep.

[00:19:54] The crush be crushing.

[00:19:56] And Aoyama is the drama.

[00:19:57] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:58] Yes.

[00:19:58] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:59] Also, in a direct affront to me personally, in the preview for the next episode, which

[00:20:08] begins the next arc of the season, they're trying to make the character to be introduced

[00:20:14] as Gentle Criminal.

[00:20:15] They're trying to make him look so cool in the preview with the shadows and the eyes.

[00:20:21] And, like, I have had enough with this fake news nonsense.

[00:20:24] He is not cool.

[00:20:26] He is not cool at all, but he is very fun.

[00:20:29] Ugh.

[00:20:30] I love him.

[00:20:31] I'm so mad.

[00:20:32] I'm so excited.

[00:20:35] All right.

[00:20:36] So, some things of note.

[00:20:38] First of all, you know what?

[00:20:39] I gotta admit, these kids' quirks are fucking insane.

[00:20:43] Like, one of them literally has a cannon for a tongue.

[00:20:46] Tasty.

[00:20:47] These kids are going to create chaos, and I'm here for it.

[00:20:50] They are the gen alpha of MHA.

[00:20:53] Yes.

[00:20:54] They literally are.

[00:20:55] Yes.

[00:20:56] Also, at one point, President Mike is, like, comforting the kid's teacher.

[00:21:01] And, sir, the eye contact?

[00:21:04] You slut?

[00:21:05] It was so slutty and so hot.

[00:21:09] My heart went pitter-patter.

[00:21:12] Yes.

[00:21:13] Yes.

[00:21:13] He definitely wants that lady to join the polycule.

[00:21:17] Mm-hmm.

[00:21:18] Yeah, he's, like, the more the merrier.

[00:21:20] Yeah.

[00:21:21] Yep.

[00:21:21] Yep.

[00:21:22] Also, Katsuki, my son, my darling little chaos gremlin, making fun of the Shoto illusion was the silliest and most obvious tactic ever.

[00:21:35] You jealous little weirdo.

[00:21:37] Leave him alone.

[00:21:38] He can't understand his emotions.

[00:21:41] And it's very funny for me.

[00:21:45] Oh, God.

[00:21:46] Speaking of funny, but also cute, Gong Orca really likes kids, actually, and he just forces himself to be tough on them.

[00:21:54] Yeah.

[00:21:54] Yeah.

[00:21:54] It's like, you can't see how cute I think you all are.

[00:21:57] Don't look at me.

[00:21:58] Mm-hmm.

[00:21:58] Mm-hmm.

[00:21:59] Also, it must be noted.

[00:22:02] Cheese!

[00:22:03] Cheese!

[00:22:04] Cheese!

[00:22:05] Cheese!

[00:22:05] Cheese!

[00:22:06] Cheese!

[00:22:07] Cheese!

[00:22:07] Cheese!

[00:22:08] Cheese!

[00:22:08] Cheese!

[00:22:09] Cheese!

[00:22:09] Cheese!

[00:22:09] Cheese!

[00:22:10] This is by far my favorite episode.

[00:22:12] Like, all of the other ones, they're great.

[00:22:14] I love them.

[00:22:15] But this one, this one takes the cake.

[00:22:18] Oh, God.

[00:22:18] It's so, it's just amazing.

[00:22:21] It's perfect.

[00:22:22] Cheese!

[00:22:24] That being said, someone get Yuzuku a Valium or something, because good Lord, that boy is highly

[00:22:30] strong in this episode.

[00:22:32] It was the math.

[00:22:33] Mm-hmm.

[00:22:34] Yeah, probably.

[00:22:34] He at least needs a teddy bear to keep all the evil spirits away.

[00:22:39] Yeah.

[00:22:39] And the cheese.

[00:22:40] Yeah.

[00:22:41] Yeah, he needs something.

[00:22:43] Good God.

[00:22:44] And then Mito wants everyone to work together after graduation, my sweet baby!

[00:22:48] I would love that.

[00:22:50] I need them all to work at the exact same hero company, whatever, that Yuzuku and Kazuki run,

[00:22:58] obviously.

[00:22:58] Yeah, obviously.

[00:22:59] It's class A hero agency.

[00:23:02] Exactly.

[00:23:03] Also, the acid rain was a little too real.

[00:23:06] A little bit.

[00:23:06] A little bit.

[00:23:07] Mm-hmm.

[00:23:08] A little too real.

[00:23:10] Uh-huh.

[00:23:10] For all of y'all that don't know, the rain is on the acidic side.

[00:23:14] It's supposed to...

[00:23:15] So there is, like...

[00:23:17] Water should be around six to eight.

[00:23:19] There's, like, the scale.

[00:23:21] But our rain is around, like, four to five, which is not good.

[00:23:27] Yeah.

[00:23:28] Yeah.

[00:23:28] We fixed the acid rain problem that we had in the 80s, and now it's coming back.

[00:23:33] Yay.

[00:23:34] It's coming back?

[00:23:36] Yep.

[00:23:36] Yep.

[00:23:37] God damn it!

[00:23:40] First Yellowstone, now the rain.

[00:23:42] Oh, my God.

[00:23:43] Have you seen the TikTok lady that has the bingo for 2024?

[00:23:47] Yeah, she, like, almost has bingo or just got it?

[00:23:50] She almost has bingo.

[00:23:51] She needs one more.

[00:23:52] Oh, God.

[00:23:53] What's the one she needs?

[00:23:54] There's a few she needs.

[00:23:56] She has, like, four different that could possibly happen.

[00:24:00] Oh, God.

[00:24:01] Oh, Jesus.

[00:24:02] Just halfway filled up that board.

[00:24:05] Yeah.

[00:24:06] Oh, God.

[00:24:07] Christ.

[00:24:09] Oh, what a year.

[00:24:11] What a year.

[00:24:11] Yeah, I think one of them is Sabrina Carpenter and, uh, Chapel Rowan collaborators.

[00:24:18] No, Olivia Rodrigo collaborate.

[00:24:20] Yeah.

[00:24:21] Yeah, I think that's one of them.

[00:24:22] Yeah, I can see that.

[00:24:24] But anyway, getting back to the episode, when they're working on their ultimate moves,

[00:24:30] Kirishima asks Katsuki, Sato, and Izuku to beat him up.

[00:24:35] And he's just like, go as hard as you can, guys.

[00:24:37] Just really give it to me.

[00:24:38] And, oh, God, my sweet, weird gay son.

[00:24:41] You're so strange.

[00:24:42] I love him so much.

[00:24:44] And so obvious.

[00:24:46] Oh, God.

[00:24:47] He's the best.

[00:24:48] But then Katsuki, like, totally teases Izuku to motivate him because he can tell that Izuku

[00:24:54] is distracted.

[00:24:55] Gay ass.

[00:24:56] I love him even more.

[00:24:59] This was a beautiful little scene lit.

[00:25:02] And they're both going to be thinking about that shoulder bump for days.

[00:25:06] If not months.

[00:25:07] I don't know.

[00:25:07] I don't think Izuku's going to be thinking about it because he's got other stuff to think

[00:25:10] about it.

[00:25:10] But Katsuki is definitely going to be thinking about it.

[00:25:14] He was terrified of cheese, okay?

[00:25:16] He's going to think about it in, like, three years and be like, oh, my God.

[00:25:20] Katsuki touched my shoulder.

[00:25:22] And I was distracted and didn't notice.

[00:25:25] That's a little more probable.

[00:25:27] It's the cheese.

[00:25:27] The cheese is on his mind.

[00:25:29] The cheese is on Oliver's mind.

[00:25:31] Yeah.

[00:25:31] Meanwhile, Katsuki is literally not going to sleep for three nights straight.

[00:25:35] Yeah.

[00:25:35] Yeah.

[00:25:37] Oh, my son.

[00:25:39] Oh, they're all so weird and gay and hilarious.

[00:25:42] And I love them so much.

[00:25:44] Final point.

[00:25:46] Aoyama shit his pants.

[00:25:48] He literally shit his pants.

[00:25:50] He did.

[00:25:52] My poor, sweet, lactose intolerant, pork mismatch boy.

[00:25:56] He shit his pants, showing off for Izuku.

[00:25:59] Oh, poor boy.

[00:26:02] Poor boy.

[00:26:02] Honestly, I just thought he threw up.

[00:26:04] No, he shit his pants.

[00:26:07] Yeah.

[00:26:07] He said he needed to go change his pants.

[00:26:09] Yeah.

[00:26:10] I completely missed that.

[00:26:13] Again, I was doing these notes, like, ten minutes before my meeting.

[00:26:18] Yep.

[00:26:19] Yep.

[00:26:19] It's all good.

[00:26:20] It's all good.

[00:26:21] But yeah, that's it for the episode.

[00:26:23] All right.

[00:26:24] So moving along to discussion topics.

[00:26:26] We only have a couple.

[00:26:27] And we're going to start with quirks as art.

[00:26:30] Yeah.

[00:26:31] So this is a shounen about heroes.

[00:26:33] So for obvious reasons, we don't really get to see quirks being used creatively, except

[00:26:38] for, like, creative fighting techniques.

[00:26:40] So, like, it's nice that we get to see quirks being used purely for fun and self-expression.

[00:26:45] And this also made me wonder if, like, artists who use their quirks in their art are allowed

[00:26:51] to use their quirks in everyday life.

[00:26:54] Like, if they have to get a special license or something.

[00:26:56] But that's a completely different conversation.

[00:27:00] Also, yes, it says a lot about this society that quirks are only valued for their usefulness

[00:27:04] in battle.

[00:27:05] I am too tired to get into that, though.

[00:27:07] And I'm pretty sure we've already talked about it.

[00:27:09] Oh, yeah.

[00:27:10] Basically, it's just because capitalism and, like, damn it, Horikoshi and all of your all-encompassing

[00:27:17] commentary.

[00:27:18] Mm-hmm.

[00:27:19] Yep, yep.

[00:27:20] All right.

[00:27:21] And then our second and last one is something about Katsuki connecting with the ringleader

[00:27:26] child.

[00:27:27] Yeah, I was too tired for that one.

[00:27:29] Take it away, Nicole.

[00:27:30] I tried my best.

[00:27:31] Um, so basically the little ringleader douchebag child, um, his interior monologue kind of breaks

[00:27:39] down what's going on.

[00:27:40] He knows how he's a prodigy.

[00:27:42] He's really good at piano because, of course, he is.

[00:27:45] Um, and he's really good to fighting compared to everyone around him or he thinks he is.

[00:27:49] We also don't see his quirk.

[00:27:51] So we don't even know what's going on.

[00:27:53] Mm-hmm.

[00:27:54] Um, so basically just, like, in his eyes, he's the best.

[00:27:58] And he also sees, like, the heroes on TV and he sees all the media and he sees his parents

[00:28:03] and his teacher and how it seems like none of these adults can get anything right.

[00:28:09] And if it was up to him, everything would be done perfectly.

[00:28:13] And he's just, like, he's just, like, they all suck and I'm the best.

[00:28:17] Mm-hmm.

[00:28:18] Mm-hmm.

[00:28:18] Everyone should do everything the way I do it all the time forever.

[00:28:22] Yes, because I'm perfect and have never done anything wrong because I'm four.

[00:28:30] So Katsuki, a fellow gifted child who is currently well on his way through his gifted kid burnout

[00:28:37] journey.

[00:28:38] Oh, yeah.

[00:28:39] Um, he sees himself in the kid.

[00:28:42] He sees himself in the douchebag.

[00:28:44] Yep.

[00:28:44] And he knows the projected arrogance that the kid is showing off for everyone.

[00:28:49] It's really just masking all his vulnerability and all that stuff.

[00:28:51] And he's just like, hey, bro, I see you.

[00:28:55] You can chill.

[00:28:56] But, like, in Katsuki's typical growly way.

[00:28:59] Mm-hmm.

[00:29:00] And he says, beating someone you look down on doesn't feel good.

[00:29:05] Like, good boy.

[00:29:07] Oh, the character growth.

[00:29:08] He's so good.

[00:29:09] Good boy.

[00:29:10] He's growing so fast.

[00:29:11] Oh, fast.

[00:29:12] He's got that gifted kid exponential growth.

[00:29:15] Once he gets something, he goes.

[00:29:16] Uh-huh.

[00:29:17] Uh-huh.

[00:29:18] All right.

[00:29:19] And also, um, he says something else.

[00:29:21] He says, if you keep looking down on everyone else, you'll never be able to see your own

[00:29:26] weaknesses.

[00:29:27] Yes.

[00:29:28] Yes, sir.

[00:29:29] Self-aware king.

[00:29:30] At least trying to be.

[00:29:32] Ah.

[00:29:32] All the medals for my boy.

[00:29:34] Also, so basically the kid is the same as him, just in a different font.

[00:29:38] Yeah.

[00:29:39] Mm-hmm.

[00:29:39] Yeah.

[00:29:39] Just in, he's just Katsuki, but in the Aoyama font, I feel like.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:46] Fancy boy.

[00:29:47] Yes.

[00:29:49] All right.

[00:29:50] So moving along to manga differences, there were quite a few.

[00:29:54] So in chapter 166, Katsuki calls Shoto dreamy boy instead of glamoroki, which.

[00:30:02] Glamoroki is a hundred times better.

[00:30:04] Yes.

[00:30:05] Agreed.

[00:30:06] This was the only manga difference I read, by the way.

[00:30:09] Yeah.

[00:30:09] That's fine.

[00:30:10] You were like, that's all I need to know.

[00:30:12] I don't need to know anything else.

[00:30:14] You all suck.

[00:30:16] All right.

[00:30:17] For chapter 167.

[00:30:19] So the manga actually shows the cleanup process after the lesson, like basically just breaking

[00:30:23] down the giant ice slide, including Katsuki, who had the time of his life destroying the

[00:30:29] ice sculpture.

[00:30:31] Oh, and it also does show the kids bonding with five weenies.

[00:30:36] And why did they take this out?

[00:30:38] The bonding becomes pertinent later.

[00:30:42] They had to add like foreshadowing plot stuff.

[00:30:46] But we just want to see the kids having fun.

[00:30:50] Let Katsuki destroy things.

[00:30:54] Also, Gong Orca actually takes the time to give the kids teacher like some pointers and

[00:30:59] some validation like going forward.

[00:31:01] He's so sweet.

[00:31:02] My husband is so good.

[00:31:03] That's awesome.

[00:31:05] All right.

[00:31:05] And then for chapter 168, there's a panel where Ezekiel is looking at his fingers and

[00:31:10] his fingers are too long.

[00:31:13] Why?

[00:31:14] Horikoshi.

[00:31:15] Horikoshi, please.

[00:31:16] Please.

[00:31:16] He's just he's just like that.

[00:31:18] They were so long.

[00:31:20] So unnecessary.

[00:31:21] Dobby's neck all over again.

[00:31:24] Also, we do get the translation of what Aoyama writes in the stone with his laser.

[00:31:29] And it says still waters run deep, sir.

[00:31:33] I have no idea what that means.

[00:31:35] It was like basically just because someone like seems like still and calm on the surface.

[00:31:41] There's a lot going on underneath.

[00:31:43] Oh, right.

[00:31:45] Yeah.

[00:31:45] Good God.

[00:31:46] My brain is soup.

[00:31:48] Not even a good soup.

[00:31:50] It's just broth.

[00:31:51] And like not enough salt or anything.

[00:31:54] It's like the chicken noodle soup from a can where it's like mostly just noodles that are too soft.

[00:32:00] Yeah.

[00:32:01] Yeah.

[00:32:01] I hate hand soup.

[00:32:03] I hate hand soup.

[00:32:05] Irrelevant, but very important.

[00:32:07] It's very important.

[00:32:08] Thank you.

[00:32:09] Yep.

[00:32:10] All right.

[00:32:10] And then it was actually unclear in the manga if Aoyama just like farted really big time or indeed shot himself.

[00:32:18] So they made it clear in the anime that he did shit himself.

[00:32:21] Yep.

[00:32:24] I'm sorry.

[00:32:25] That's still so funny.

[00:32:28] You are never too young or too old to shit your pants, folks.

[00:32:34] Yep.

[00:32:34] All right.

[00:32:35] Unfortunately.

[00:32:37] Moving along to Easter eggs.

[00:32:39] I did a Super Mario reference tally because I'm just a dork.

[00:32:45] So the binging balls toddler kid with his balls, that's just Chain Chomp.

[00:32:53] There was a girl with flower antenna as well as a teenager who also had a flower antenna.

[00:32:59] Those are just Pikmin who are technically their own property under Nintendo, but they've crossed over with Mario, so it counts.

[00:33:07] I was literally just about to ask that actually.

[00:33:11] And then one of them is a hammer bro because he literally just manifests hammers, sir.

[00:33:19] And then finally, the kid who has the cannon in his mouth that Fern is terrified of.

[00:33:24] That's just a bill blaster like Horikoshi.

[00:33:28] He's such a dweeb.

[00:33:30] It was there.

[00:33:31] He had it.

[00:33:32] He had it right there.

[00:33:34] He's such a dork.

[00:33:35] All right.

[00:33:36] And then in the title card, which I had noticed before,

[00:33:39] but for the opening credits, at one point, they're all wearing matching shirts just with different letters.

[00:33:46] Bakugo's shirt has an M on it.

[00:33:49] It's like the letters are supposed to spell out the title or whatever.

[00:33:52] But clearly, he's wearing it for all might and for his boyfriend Midoriya.

[00:33:57] Oh, yeah, totally.

[00:33:58] That's clear.

[00:33:59] And then the quirk doomsday theory, as much as Fern hates this theory and as much as we don't really need to validate it or invalidate it in world,

[00:34:09] it does continue to come up more and more from this arc onward.

[00:34:15] Oh, it's so annoying.

[00:34:17] Especially when it comes to Shiggy.

[00:34:20] Ow.

[00:34:21] The current anime.

[00:34:22] Ow.

[00:34:23] Ow.

[00:34:24] All right.

[00:34:25] And then Mina is inspired by Kirishima's Unbreakable.

[00:34:30] Like, you can see it in this episode.

[00:34:32] And it inspires her own ultimate move that we see later on.

[00:34:35] And they're besties.

[00:34:37] Uh-huh.

[00:34:38] Oh, they're so cute.

[00:34:39] They're the best.

[00:34:40] All right.

[00:34:41] And now moving along to our big spoiler section.

[00:34:44] So if you are not caught all the way up, honestly, on both the manga and the anime this time, bye.

[00:34:51] We love you.

[00:34:52] Turn your ears off because spoilers.

[00:34:55] Go ahead, Fern.

[00:34:56] Oh, my God.

[00:34:57] Okay.

[00:34:57] So obviously, we got to talk about the traitor arc, right?

[00:35:01] Yeah.

[00:35:01] And now that we've all seen the traitor arc, this whole episode takes on whole other levels of meaning.

[00:35:08] First of all, Horikoshi, you bitch.

[00:35:10] I have too many feelings.

[00:35:13] Nicole or Maria, once I'm done, please do the coherence for me.

[00:35:16] Thank you.

[00:35:17] I love you.

[00:35:18] But like the whole you're like me.

[00:35:20] Uh-huh.

[00:35:21] As in like, hey, I can totally tell that you were not born with your quirk.

[00:35:25] And then like him keeping his distance because he's afraid to bond with people that he's going to betray.

[00:35:31] And then him being happier when he does make friends because because he thinks AFO is like done with.

[00:35:38] Just Horikoshi.

[00:35:40] I'm going to break into your house and steal all of your left socks and I will sell them on eBay to pay for my therapy bills.

[00:35:46] Uh-huh.

[00:35:46] Uh-huh.

[00:35:47] Yes.

[00:35:48] Yes.

[00:35:48] Yes.

[00:35:48] And your meds.

[00:35:49] Meds are also important.

[00:35:50] Yep.

[00:35:51] Yep.

[00:35:51] Okay, I'm done.

[00:35:52] All right.

[00:35:53] Well, I don't feel like I don't have to add any coherence to that.

[00:35:56] You were very coherent.

[00:35:57] I'm just going to add a few more little pain sprinkles.

[00:36:01] He doesn't want to eat with all the other students because I bet he feels guilty and he doesn't want to get too close to any of them.

[00:36:07] Yup.

[00:36:08] Yup.

[00:36:08] He doesn't want to break bread with them.

[00:36:11] I...

[00:36:12] Ugh.

[00:36:12] Sorry, I'm fine.

[00:36:14] You're great.

[00:36:15] Also in the dove, Aoyama actually has this line.

[00:36:18] If we can't overcome the things that bring us pain, then you won't be able to twinkle, my friend.

[00:36:24] And...

[00:36:25] Ah!

[00:36:31] And then, of course, he had this still waters run deep thing.

[00:36:35] Like, bro, dude.

[00:36:37] Honey.

[00:36:38] Horikoshi.

[00:36:39] Your left socks.

[00:36:41] I'm coming for them.

[00:36:43] Yep.

[00:36:43] Horikoshi, I just want to talk.

[00:36:45] Just a little bit.

[00:36:46] Just a teeny bit.

[00:36:50] Also, if I'm remembering this correctly, I think Kiana, who we interviewed in an earlier episode,

[00:36:57] she was texting me as she got to the traitor arc in the anime.

[00:37:02] Oh, my God.

[00:37:02] She had no idea it was beautiful.

[00:37:05] Oh, my God.

[00:37:07] Oh, Kiana.

[00:37:09] We love you, Kiana.

[00:37:10] Welcome to the pain.

[00:37:12] The horrible pain.

[00:37:14] I can't wait because I think she watches the dub, so I can't wait until she gets to the actual, like, current episode.

[00:37:21] Oh, my God.

[00:37:22] Oh, my God.

[00:37:23] Oh, my God.

[00:37:25] And also, there's a couple other actual Easter eggs that are spoilery.

[00:37:30] There's one of the children.

[00:37:32] He has this quirk called Assault Dust.

[00:37:34] He literally just controls dust.

[00:37:36] And I feel like he's very closely designed to N, who's the sixth user of One for All, a.k.a. Smokescreen.

[00:37:44] So I feel like that's his descendant.

[00:37:47] Horikoshi, please confirm.

[00:37:50] All right.

[00:37:50] And then, because I had just watched the episode, the kid who has the binging balls quirk, the chain chomp quirk, that bitch, he Easter egged Katsuki losing his mask to Shigafo in his death scene.

[00:38:09] Like.

[00:38:09] Oh, shit.

[00:38:11] Oh, Horikoshi.

[00:38:13] Ow.

[00:38:13] Why?

[00:38:14] Well, now I'm stealing the right socks, too.

[00:38:17] Yep.

[00:38:17] Steal them all.

[00:38:17] Mm-hmm.

[00:38:18] You're sockless.

[00:38:20] Sockless.

[00:38:21] And then, also.

[00:38:22] No, so you steal the left sock and you steal the right shoe.

[00:38:26] Yes.

[00:38:27] Yes.

[00:38:28] Okay, yes.

[00:38:29] Yes.

[00:38:29] Really.

[00:38:30] Agreed.

[00:38:30] Yes.

[00:38:31] Also, also, in his death episode, they used a little strain of the Hero Rising song.

[00:38:39] And how freaking dare they?

[00:38:40] That hurt more than what was actually going on, because I knew it was going to happen.

[00:38:43] I was prepared.

[00:38:44] And then they did the little chorus and the little trills, and I almost died on my couch.

[00:38:49] All right.

[00:38:50] Well, we're going to find the person who made that decision, and we're going to steal their right socks and their left shoes.

[00:38:55] Yes.

[00:38:55] And also, their genius brain, because that was brilliant.

[00:38:59] Mm.

[00:39:01] Also, anytime someone at work now, when they're coming in and they're buying My Hero stuff, I always ask them,

[00:39:07] Are you caught up on the anime?

[00:39:09] Oh, my God.

[00:39:10] And you just see their faces when they are?

[00:39:12] Oh, God.

[00:39:14] The schadenfreude of their sadness is delicious when I'm stuck on register.

[00:39:20] No.

[00:39:21] Now you know how I've been feeling this entire time.

[00:39:24] Oh.

[00:39:24] Oh, man.

[00:39:25] It's beautiful.

[00:39:26] It's wonderful.

[00:39:27] I know.

[00:39:27] That's why I laugh, and I laugh, and I laugh.

[00:39:30] Poor babies.

[00:39:31] Oh, their faces.

[00:39:32] It's so funny.

[00:39:33] And I tell them, it's like, I knew it was coming, and it still hurt, and they're just like,

[00:39:38] Ah!

[00:39:38] Ah, my boy.

[00:39:40] This is why I'm putting off watching Kamitsuna Yaba, because it's going to destroy me.

[00:39:46] Yeah.

[00:39:47] Yeah.

[00:39:48] Oh, shit.

[00:39:49] I need to catch up on that.

[00:39:50] Yeah.

[00:39:51] I'm actually caught up on the current anime.

[00:39:55] The finale of the current season was so badass.

[00:39:59] I was very confused for the first half of it, but it was so badass.

[00:40:03] And also very beautiful.

[00:40:05] Mm-hmm.

[00:40:06] Like, how dare they?

[00:40:07] Nice.

[00:40:08] Nice.

[00:40:09] It's so pretty.

[00:40:09] But also, like, the next season.

[00:40:12] I think the next season is their last season.

[00:40:14] Yeah, and it's going to be three movies instead of a season.

[00:40:19] They're doing a lot of movies.

[00:40:20] Why is that?

[00:40:21] It's probably best that they did movies, because the ending is so fast-paced.

[00:40:29] Mm-hmm.

[00:40:30] Mm-hmm.

[00:40:31] That if they break it up like they do as an episode, it would not make sense.

[00:40:37] Yeah, it would be very choppy.

[00:40:40] Gotcha, gotcha.

[00:40:41] Interesting.

[00:40:42] All right.

[00:40:42] Well, I have that to look forward to.

[00:40:44] Yeah.

[00:40:45] Rengoku.

[00:40:45] I can't wait.

[00:40:47] Oh, my God.

[00:40:48] Speaking of Rengoku, when you're watching the finale, make sure you watch all the way to the end.

[00:40:55] Okay.

[00:40:57] Now I have many questions.

[00:40:59] Yes, as you should.

[00:41:02] All right.

[00:41:03] Well, before we get to...

[00:41:05] Before this becomes a Demon Slayer podcast.

[00:41:08] Yes.

[00:41:09] Do we have any final comments?

[00:41:12] We should...

[00:41:13] Well, we should do a, like, comparison of Izuku and Kamutsu no Yaba.

[00:41:21] Tanjiro.

[00:41:22] Tanjiro, yes.

[00:41:23] Oh, yes.

[00:41:24] Yes.

[00:41:24] Yeah, we should.

[00:41:25] Yeah, we'll add that to the list.

[00:41:27] Hell yeah.

[00:41:27] But before we get there, before I have something...

[00:41:31] It's a very important comment, but it is utterly unrelated to this episode or any recent chapter

[00:41:37] or new episode that has come out.

[00:41:39] And I had to put it here.

[00:41:41] Bird knows what it is.

[00:41:42] I do.

[00:41:44] Be kind, please.

[00:41:45] Yes.

[00:41:46] So I almost did it on the most recent Catch the Fuck Up, but there wasn't room,

[00:41:52] and I didn't really want to do it.

[00:41:54] But basically, someone on TikTok said, basically as part of a current, like, meme or trend going

[00:42:01] around because the MHA manga is coming to an end.

[00:42:05] They're, like, sharing their unpopular opinions or, like, whatever.

[00:42:09] This one random TikTok user who came across my FYP, I don't know them.

[00:42:14] I don't know their name, their pronouns or anything.

[00:42:16] I barely remember their face.

[00:42:18] I just remember their theory and how it's wrong.

[00:42:22] So basically, they said they wanted Izuku's, quote-unquote, vigilante arc to be longer and

[00:42:30] deeper.

[00:42:31] And I want to explain why that opinion, though valid as all opinions are, on fictional worlds,

[00:42:39] because this is fiction.

[00:42:41] I'm choking.

[00:42:42] I'm sorry.

[00:42:43] Oh, God.

[00:42:45] That was perfect timing, though.

[00:42:48] Are you good now?

[00:42:49] I was trying not to laugh, and I took a drink, and it just...

[00:42:55] Okay, I think we're good.

[00:42:57] All right.

[00:42:58] Maria is no longer dying.

[00:43:00] Continue with rant.

[00:43:01] Yes.

[00:43:01] So as valid as it is, because it is a fictional world.

[00:43:04] I get that.

[00:43:05] But also, you're wrong.

[00:43:07] Your opinion is wrong.

[00:43:11] And I'm going to outline it.

[00:43:12] I have three parts.

[00:43:14] So it's wrong, because it was never a vigilante arc, people.

[00:43:20] That's why we call it his angst adventure when we reference it in the Easter egg section

[00:43:26] and all that kind of stuff when we're alluding to it.

[00:43:28] We call it his angst adventure, because he's not a vigilante.

[00:43:32] Okay, okay.

[00:43:33] So point the first.

[00:43:34] He literally had the backing of the top five heroes in Japan and their professional support,

[00:43:42] therefore their governmental support, while he was doing his off-the-grid thing.

[00:43:47] You can't be a vigilante in this world while literally working with the top heroes.

[00:43:52] He was an underground hero.

[00:43:55] Yes, exactly.

[00:43:57] He was working on government-approved missions.

[00:44:01] Yes, exactly.

[00:44:02] Also, he has his card.

[00:44:06] Yeah, he has his card.

[00:44:08] Yes, exactly.

[00:44:08] He was also licensed.

[00:44:10] Yes.

[00:44:12] Okay, point the second.

[00:44:15] It was never about Izuku meeting out vigilante justice.

[00:44:20] He wasn't out there to beat up the criminals to make up for the lack of justice in their criminal justice system.

[00:44:27] Mm-hmm.

[00:44:28] It was about how Izuku had to come to terms with how dark the world really was and could be outside of school,

[00:44:36] and how trying to do all of that alone was going to break everything that he was.

[00:44:42] Mm-hmm.

[00:44:43] It was literally Horikoshi portraying how if Izuku were to actually go down the vigilante road, which he didn't,

[00:44:51] but if he did, he would have destroyed everything that he was as a character, and that is not his arc.

[00:44:58] Exactly.

[00:44:59] Totally.

[00:45:02] He's not that kind of character.

[00:45:04] I'm sorry.

[00:45:05] He's not.

[00:45:05] There's plenty of stuff you can read or watch if you want that kind of character.

[00:45:09] And I support you because they're great.

[00:45:12] Izuku is not his turn.

[00:45:13] Naruto.

[00:45:14] When whatever his face goes on in angst, but no, like he's actually a vigilante.

[00:45:18] Anywho.

[00:45:19] Yeah, there you go.

[00:45:20] Suggestion from Maria.

[00:45:21] Go watch that.

[00:45:22] Go watch Naruto.

[00:45:24] All right.

[00:45:25] And finally, point the third.

[00:45:27] As much as it kind of seems like it in like the current anime season, like season seven,

[00:45:33] and like season six, when his angst adventure is, this is not a grim, dark superhero property.

[00:45:41] This is a shounen for children.

[00:45:44] Yeah, he's not an anti-hero.

[00:45:45] I'm sorry.

[00:45:46] Yeah, this isn't the boys or Invincible or any of those other very valid, very important superhero shows.

[00:45:54] Mm-hmm.

[00:45:55] Yeah.

[00:45:55] Again, plenty of other stuff to watch if you want that.

[00:45:58] We also love watching that stuff.

[00:46:00] That is not the property.

[00:46:01] Yeah, exactly.

[00:46:03] But as I pointed out, your opinion is wrong.

[00:46:06] Also, the new Deadpool movie comes out this weekend.

[00:46:09] Oh my God.

[00:46:10] I'm so excited.

[00:46:11] I'm going to take my mother.

[00:46:12] And I told her, you're not going to like it.

[00:46:15] But she says, okay, I'll go with you if you don't have anybody else to go with.

[00:46:19] And I'm like, you're not going to like it.

[00:46:21] I didn't say it was because there's pegging in it.

[00:46:23] But.

[00:46:25] Wait, is there pegging in it?

[00:46:26] Nice.

[00:46:26] In the first Deadpool, yeah, there's pegging.

[00:46:28] Yeah, there was definitely pegging in the first Deadpool.

[00:46:31] Oh, I thought y'all were talking about this one coming up.

[00:46:34] I hope Wolverine pegs Deadpool.

[00:46:36] I mean, Wolverine is there.

[00:46:38] Or the other way around.

[00:46:40] Or both.

[00:46:40] Oh, both, yeah.

[00:46:42] I don't know what they're going to do.

[00:46:43] They're not going to do anything.

[00:46:45] It's a Marvel property.

[00:46:47] Yeah.

[00:46:48] It's also a Ryan Reynolds property.

[00:46:50] He's going to sneak his stuff in.

[00:46:52] Yeah, there's going to be jokes about it, but nothing's going to happen.

[00:46:56] I know.

[00:46:57] But now, canonically, there's pegging in the MCU.

[00:47:00] So that's nice.

[00:47:01] That's true.

[00:47:03] They acknowledged that pegging occasionally exists.

[00:47:06] Yes.

[00:47:06] Occasionally happens.

[00:47:07] Yeah.

[00:47:08] So I'm super excited.

[00:47:10] So if you want an antihero, Deadpool is the antihero.

[00:47:12] Yes.

[00:47:13] Yes.

[00:47:15] Dark.

[00:47:15] Vigilante.

[00:47:16] Also funny.

[00:47:17] That.

[00:47:18] Exactly.

[00:47:19] Not Izuku Midoriya.

[00:47:22] Also, oh, I just realized.

[00:47:24] All my guest stars in a Deadpool comic.

[00:47:27] So like.

[00:47:28] Yes, he does.

[00:47:29] He does?

[00:47:30] There is your bridge.

[00:47:30] Yeah.

[00:47:31] Oh, that's hilarious.

[00:47:32] Yeah.

[00:47:33] And like Horikoshi worked on it.

[00:47:35] So like.

[00:47:36] That's awesome.

[00:47:37] Oh my God.

[00:47:37] He probably shit his pants.

[00:47:39] Oh, it's great.

[00:47:40] It's great.

[00:47:41] I love it.

[00:47:41] Anyways.

[00:47:42] Do either of you have any final comments now that I have finished my thesis on why this

[00:47:47] one person is wrong?

[00:47:49] Life is hard.

[00:47:50] I want to take a nap.

[00:47:51] Yes.

[00:47:53] Don't buy the street corn.

[00:47:58] Don't do it.

[00:47:59] Target.

[00:48:00] Don't buy it.

[00:48:01] Yeah.

[00:48:01] Don't buy it.

[00:48:03] Also, we still stand by our statement that your 30s are better than your 20s.

[00:48:07] Because I can't imagine all of this happening and me being 22.

[00:48:11] Oh my God.

[00:48:11] I would.

[00:48:12] I would have.

[00:48:12] My brain would have literally exploded.

[00:48:16] Oh, that would have been terrible.

[00:48:18] Would not have time for a podcast.

[00:48:22] No.

[00:48:22] Hell no.

[00:48:24] I would have.

[00:48:26] But only because I.

[00:48:27] No, no.

[00:48:28] Fair nose.

[00:48:29] Like I went days without contact because I was constantly busy.

[00:48:34] Yeah.

[00:48:35] Yeah.

[00:48:35] You think she's busy now?

[00:48:37] She's slowed down.

[00:48:39] Oh my God.

[00:48:40] I can't imagine.

[00:48:41] Yeah.

[00:48:41] But I'm sorry.

[00:48:42] I'm going to pick up again.

[00:48:43] I have like the next five weekends filled.

[00:48:46] Oh my God.

[00:48:48] Disgusting.

[00:48:49] I support you.

[00:48:50] But that's disgusting.

[00:48:51] And I have a trip planned for the next three, four months.

[00:48:55] Oh.

[00:48:55] Nice.

[00:48:56] Nice.

[00:48:57] I'm tired just thinking about it.

[00:48:59] Go see Fern in September.

[00:49:01] Yeah.

[00:49:01] Hell yeah, you are.

[00:49:02] Also, we need to figure that out.

[00:49:05] But anyway.

[00:49:05] Yeah.

[00:49:06] Yeah, we do.

[00:49:06] We also need to celebrate your birthday a month late.

[00:49:09] Oh, yeah, that's true.

[00:49:11] All right.
