[00:00:00] Hey y'all welcome to the latest episode of Catch the Fuck Up. I'm Fern. I'm Nicole. Um, happy
[00:00:07] zombie Jesus day to those to celebrate. Oh my god, I was going to say the exact same thing that
[00:00:12] is hysterical. Oh my god, we have the same brain. Uh, yeah, happy, happy zombie Jesus day everybody.
[00:00:20] I forgot that was a thing till this morning. Uh, but anyway, we are looking at My Hero
[00:00:28] academia chapter 418, meek spirits and I need more brain cells. I need more sleep. I, I,
[00:00:38] I am not equipped to handle this chapter. I got you. I got you. It's interesting and poetic
[00:00:47] and I feel like it's not coincidental at all that this is being released on zombie Jesus day.
[00:00:55] Oh my god, that's because fucking funny. Because of the zombies that we were seeing. Oh lord.
[00:01:03] Okay, well, shall we, shall we dive right in? What else could we possibly do? I don't know. So
[00:01:11] we, we're just going to dive right in. We do pick up right where we left off. However many weeks ago
[00:01:18] it was feels like a million. Yep, yep. Yeah, I think it was just two, but it was indeed a million.
[00:01:25] And basically, we are back when Tango, uh, his quirk is awakening or it's about two and
[00:01:33] Izuku is in the memory of everything that is happening. And he is also his middle school self
[00:01:42] about to watch everything go down and like with that, like it starts with with Deku and Tango
[00:01:49] like across the yard from each other and stupid little Izuku runs at little baby Tango. And he
[00:01:56] tries to call him Shigeraki. He's not, he's not quite thinking clearly. I don't think I would either
[00:02:03] get true. But it's like, that's not Shiggy. My boy, my big dumb sweet boy. Um, but then he does witness
[00:02:11] what happens to Ma'an the dog and it's terrible. And then he witnesses Tango sister come out
[00:02:19] and what happens next? And he realizes that basically this memory is at the core of everything
[00:02:26] that Shiggy is. And it's horrifying and he wants to stop this and he has to end this. So with that,
[00:02:35] the next panel, you see sweet little baby like more five-year-old Izuku and he stops Tango from
[00:02:46] getting to the memory of his sister. Yeah, oh, oh, my poor sweet child. Oh my god.
[00:02:54] For a Koshii fucking bastard making him a five-year-old again. He's, they're just little babies.
[00:02:58] Yeah, he's just little baby. And, and Izuku, he's still like regular Izuku in his head. He's
[00:03:06] just manifesting as a five-year-old because he's, oh yeah, for sure. He heightened emotions.
[00:03:11] He's meeting Tango where he is. Yep. And he, we do get a little peek into how Izuku is still very
[00:03:20] much aware of what is actually going on. He knows they're in the astral plane plane. He knows they are
[00:03:27] basically still fighting. So he channels everything he's learned about the fight into this and he,
[00:03:32] he just manifests himself in a physicality to stop Tango's decay from going further. And unfortunately,
[00:03:41] it does start to affect Izuku's body. It's not, yeah, it's not clear if it is in fact his physical
[00:03:49] body or his mental astral body. So, you just hold on to that. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep.
[00:03:58] Yep. So with that, he basically, Tango asks why he's doing this and again, Izuku repeats himself.
[00:04:04] He says because I saw you crying. And he's like, I'm going to stop this from it hurting you because
[00:04:12] you need help. You need protection. Also, I love the line. The last piece to hit him with is me.
[00:04:19] I just, it's so evocative of how like Izuku truly sees himself in like the placeable things.
[00:04:26] Yes, he's he's the last line of defense and he does it willingly because it is up to him to make sure
[00:04:33] everyone's fight turns out well. Yeah, he truly does see himself as like part and parcel of one
[00:04:41] for all, which is amazing considering how at the beginning he was definitely still treating it
[00:04:46] like all might's power. Like he's truly taken it within himself now. Yep. Yep. And then we continue
[00:04:52] Tango slash shiggy realizes this is all wrong. This is not what's happening. This is not what
[00:05:00] was always supposed to be. And he says out loud that everything he did then was his choice.
[00:05:08] It was his choice to destroy his house and his family because otherwise, what's the point
[00:05:16] these hands. Yeah. Oh, poor poor guy. That's definitely on backwards rationalization there.
[00:05:23] Yep. Yep. He's he's once again, Izuku is just going straight into the trauma with the other person.
[00:05:31] And he's like we we are going to dig through all of this and correct it.
[00:05:35] Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. He's like I am going to reveal your innermost layers whether you like it or not.
[00:05:40] Yep. And we're going to fix everything. It's going to be fine.
[00:05:44] And then poor sweet shiggy continues and never thought I'd say that poor or sweet shiggy.
[00:05:50] I know right? Man, we've really done 180. It's great though. So he says he says what's the point
[00:05:56] of these hands? What's the point of everything if I didn't make these choices because who else
[00:06:02] is going to validate everything that I am if I wasn't the one who made those choices. But
[00:06:08] ow. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. And then we switch back to Izuku and he's
[00:06:18] shiggy is trying to reject him like he rejected the other restages before but Izuku pushes through,
[00:06:23] he powers through and he realizes that it was at this point when he was a literal baby by the way.
[00:06:33] Shiggy sees this point in his life as the edge of what he could have been. He could have gone
[00:06:39] the hero route or the normal route or he could have gone the villain route essentially is how it's
[00:06:44] boiled down in his mind. Yep. Yep. This was a very big turning point for Shiggy.
[00:06:51] Yep. And then we do also get a rush of some other memories. We see little baby Tango on the street
[00:06:58] and it was helping him including that bitch ass old lady. He was so strange. Good Lord.
[00:07:05] And then we do get a memory of the Astral Plane conference call where they were basically coming
[00:07:12] to the realization that there may be no other way besides killing and Izuku at that point didn't know
[00:07:19] what he was going to do and now has come that point and he says to them, he says to Tango,
[00:07:27] others have reached out to take my hand and give me peace. And is that is that I'm?
[00:07:35] It's Eda. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, sweet little babies. Yep. And as he's saying this little baby Tango
[00:07:43] is like resolved and his hatred is like cracking away. He's not able to hold it all together.
[00:07:49] And then you turn the page and he says they get they took my hand to give me peace. And that's why
[00:07:56] I am here. So beautiful so stick roller so perfect. Horakoshi how dare you? Yeah, Horakoshi bitch.
[00:08:10] Motherfucker. So with that the little babies they're both on the ground. Tango's like
[00:08:18] the hatred that was around him is fluttering away in the wind. Izuku doesn't have arms but again
[00:08:24] again this is more likely just his the Astral manifestation of him, but we don't know for sure.
[00:08:32] And all of a sudden we found ourselves we find ourselves at a playground and I thought we were
[00:08:38] going to be back with Izuku and Bakugo for a hot shot. That's what I thought that's what I thought
[00:08:42] too. And I was like what? It's like but no, no we're still with we're still with little baby Tango
[00:08:49] and he's playing with his friends with the friends he mentioned in one panel so long ago,
[00:08:55] Mikun and Tomo and they were playing heroes and Tango was going to be all my but he looked at the
[00:09:01] clock and he had to go. Yeah. But from that memory it then goes back to Shiggy himself. He's like
[00:09:09] I can't be all my because I'm a villain. Like that is who I am. That is what my core is and he has all
[00:09:17] his his legal villain friends with him. It's just it's like Shiggy is at the point where he's like
[00:09:26] he doesn't know what to do next. Yeah, obviously. All he knows is the connections he has now and those
[00:09:31] are all with other villains. And I know like in the past we were doubtful about how strong his
[00:09:36] connection to them actually was but as we've since learned his emotional connection to them is very
[00:09:43] powerful. Yeah, if he gives up his villainy, he gives up his only support system. Yeah, he gives
[00:09:49] up his only friends, his only family. And he said he's like he even says it doesn't matter if you
[00:09:57] like if we get rid of my hatred, if you stamp it out, if I therapist myself enough to get rid of all
[00:10:03] the hatred that's been building up because he realizes that however it ends up, he as Shiggy is
[00:10:13] essentially a hero to all the other quote unquote villains of the world.
[00:10:19] Everybody who feels isolated and unsupported he is their beacon right now because they have
[00:10:25] nothing else. Yeah, just like how all might was the beacon, Shiggy is also the beacon. And he does
[00:10:32] realize on a sense that there is some responsibility there. There he's still aware that there is
[00:10:38] a real societal conversation that is happening. It just it just is the fact that this is his answer
[00:10:46] to it. Yeah, yeah exactly. And we do get quick little panels of some folks who are rooting for
[00:10:53] Shiggy Raki as they are watching the footage which was a good thing to see world building wise but also
[00:11:01] go to therapy. Yeah, I'm not characters. I mean it really does demonstrate that even after this
[00:11:06] big battle is finished there are many many many more battles to be fought and then you're never
[00:11:11] going to stop fighting those battles like the revolution never ends. Yeah, even if it is
[00:11:17] televised in this instance, it's not going to actually end with this yeah. Yep, yep, yep. And then
[00:11:24] we get an update to what is going on out in the real world. The title wave mountain of
[00:11:31] fingers are crumbling away at this point but there's so much dust and debris that they can't see
[00:11:38] what's going on yet. They can't see what happened to Midoriya yet. And then you turn the page and
[00:11:46] Bigel jump. Bigel, bigel left turn. I thought maybe we were going to go to
[00:11:52] Kurakumo because again that was the only missing piece that was being apparently not.
[00:11:58] Apparently not. Also he's not in the little League of Villains lineup which was interesting but
[00:12:05] I'm sure we'll get to that eventually but no, we take a left turn into what appears to be a memory
[00:12:12] from somebody they don't know the identity of talking to Mr. Shimura aka Shigis father and Shigis
[00:12:22] recognizes that he's like why are we what where is this coming from? Why do I have this memory
[00:12:29] of my father talking to someone from Koga construction which mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah, this is not his memory.
[00:12:36] This is clearly not Izuku's memory. Also Shigis like what the fuck wise my dad here. Yep, yep.
[00:12:42] And before I turned to the page I was like mm-hmm, who could this be? And I was like it could be
[00:12:49] it could be who we mentioned before but I was like what is like Gran Torino and he's been
[00:12:54] like checking up on his spot. No, it's not. I don't know where you got that but okay
[00:13:01] I don't know because because Gran Torino knew the father as the kid I don't know. I was just like
[00:13:07] it could be something nice. It's not. Oh yeah no. All right and so they continue and apparently
[00:13:16] the two after they meet on the street go to get drinks at a restaurant because I guess that's
[00:13:21] what people do sometimes. Yeah, but he's talking to him like he knows the guy he's like they've had
[00:13:28] a previous conversation before because the guy he's talking to the guy whose memory this is
[00:13:32] asks about his son and asks about his quirk. And that's when Izuku's like this isn't
[00:13:39] like he goes memories like what is happening? And then you turn to the next page and not
[00:13:43] sack face has returned. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, it is horrifying and he just buss out of the foundation
[00:13:54] of their astral plane and he's like a giant and he goes to eat shiggy while Izuku falls down the
[00:14:03] nut sack face away from the mouth. Yep, we thought he might still be in there and yeah,
[00:14:11] yeah, there must have more ways than one. And with that shiggy ends up inside AFO's mouth.
[00:14:22] He's trying to consume him. The imagery is a little on the nose, but you know,
[00:14:28] and then he turned to the last page and as little baby Izuku with his little no arms is just
[00:14:36] falling falling falling away we hear AFO start to talk and he's like you're such a foolish
[00:14:46] useless vessel. You lost this battle of will to a child to this nobody who means nothing
[00:14:53] and it's like you're projecting but okay. Uh-huh, uh-huh. And then we get the big twist reveal that
[00:15:02] not once in Tango slash shiggy's little life have any of his choices actually been his own because
[00:15:11] AFO found his father. Yeah, I'm very interested about the implications of that like whether
[00:15:20] Tango's father was like under some kind of coercive control or whether AFO just like
[00:15:27] hoped and prodded him like verbally to convince him that like abusing his son was a good idea
[00:15:33] or something. Yeah, yeah, whether it was more coercive like our Yamaz situation or whether
[00:15:39] even something like literal mind control. Yeah, or little mind. Or like actively changing his
[00:15:44] personality somehow. Yep, that could be it and it could also just be AFO stirring the fucking pie
[00:15:50] because he's a bitch. Yep. Or also maybe he had nothing to do with it and Tango's dad is just like
[00:15:58] you know saving face in front of an acquaintance being like yeah he's a handful whatever
[00:16:04] like yeah he's totally fine and just straight up lying. Yep, yep and AFO is just
[00:16:09] yeah AFO is just in there he's like he's pulling whatever strings he thinks he can
[00:16:15] is like to take like he's getting he's assessing the situation to see how he could take advantage
[00:16:19] maybe it could be literally anything I have no I have no glue and we will hopefully find out
[00:16:25] next chapter the app does say seven days this time finally. Oh my god. So we'll see you to know
[00:16:32] we need to know what's going on at work. Oh my goodness. So yeah, we will we'll see if we stick
[00:16:38] around there for the memories or if we jump somewhere else or if we do in fact go to Kurokumo
[00:16:43] who even knows Horkoshi can you can you please stop punching us in the face thank you. Oh god
[00:16:51] yeah yeah I'm who what a chapter what a chapter I'm excited. Yep it was very straightforward
[00:17:00] there's not much to theorize about but it was still painful. So so painful. Oh my god yeah I'm
[00:17:09] trying to think if I have any more thoughts. I want to know where my son is and how he's doing but
[00:17:16] that's neither here nor there at the moment. Yeah when I will say when I saw that panel of the
[00:17:23] fingers crumbling at first I thought that was Izuku's body crumbling. Oh yeah yeah.
[00:17:29] But we don't know for sure. We do not have his arms. We do not or maybe he doesn't.
[00:17:34] Who knows? Maybe he doesn't because Horkoshi does in fact like Star Wars and Star Wars does tend
[00:17:40] to get rid of so many arms. So we'll see. So much limb chopping. Yeah. Yeah. Exhaustion.
[00:17:49] Horseweed little dumb babies. Oh god. Poor kids. Fuck. All right anything else to add?
[00:17:57] I have nothing. I am sad and angry and I hope to have more energy to focus my anger on
[00:18:06] due nut sack face bitch. Next week. Yep yep yep sounds good so we're just gonna sit in our feelings
[00:18:13] for a bit. Thank you all for listening. We will be back in seven days but in the meantime go beyond
[00:18:21] plus ultra catch the fuck up and go to fucking therapy. Yeah yeah and also get some discount
[00:18:28] Easter candy too and take it with you to therapy. Yes yes it's tasty. Great great idea. All right bye y'all. Bye.
