[00:00:00] Hey y'all, this podcast contains cursing, references to alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs, and thirsty comments about adult characters. Thanks for listening!

[00:00:22] Hey y'all, this is My Hero Analysis, a podcast about My Hero Academia, aka Boku no Hero Academia. We are three grown adults who mind Japanese children's cartoons for serotonin because God knows our brains aren't making it naturally. I'm Nicole. Welcome to my Baku Deku dissertation.

[00:00:39] I mean our bonus episode covering Heroes Rising.

[00:00:45] Yes. Oh, Lord. Prepare y'all. Prepare. Hi, I'm Fern. I did my notes for this episode while high. Haven't been high in a while. Got zooted. Do not remember what I wrote, but there was a lot of all caps. So...

[00:01:02] You're zooted like my cat.

[00:01:05] This is gonna be fun, I think.

[00:01:07] Uh, hey y'all, it's Maria, and I literally watched the movie right before recording. I'm not...

[00:01:15] There are no notes. It's just me. I'm going on vibes, so here we are.

[00:01:22] Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Vibes truly are all you need with this one though.

[00:01:26] Yeah. Mm. So good.

[00:01:28] Maria, do you have a snack besides your wine?

[00:01:31] I have my wine. I don't have any food because I am not hungry as of yet.

[00:01:37] You ate lunch though, right? You are. Yes. Okay.

[00:01:39] Yeah, so you're like not drinking on an empty stomach.

[00:01:42] No. Okay, cool.

[00:01:43] For gods, no. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time though.

[00:01:48] I just...

[00:01:49] Just be happy there's food in my stomach.

[00:01:51] Yes. Yes, for sure. We've all been there.

[00:01:55] All right. Well, this episode we are talking about the second released and hands down best My Hero Academia movie, Heroes Rising.

[00:02:04] A.K.A.

[00:02:06] A.K.A. the one everyone cries at because of the devil song.

[00:02:11] Mm.

[00:02:12] And when everyone and their mother started shipping Baku Deku and or went full OFA truther.

[00:02:18] Let's get into it.

[00:02:20] So before we really dive in, we're going to do like a notes on timing and present premise because around this time is when the three of us kind of got into My Hero.

[00:02:33] Mm-hmm.

[00:02:34] Mm-hmm.

[00:02:34] But Heroes Rising itself was released in late 2019 and early 2020, literally right before COVID lockdown started.

[00:02:42] Yay, woo, fun.

[00:02:43] Oh boy.

[00:02:43] Oh boy.

[00:02:45] And it was available.

[00:02:46] It was basically available to watch between seasons four and five.

[00:02:50] And that's when I got into it.

[00:02:53] Thanks to TikTok.

[00:02:54] Um, and if you watch it then too, like you'll be fine.

[00:02:58] Um, but, uh, props to Screen Rant, I guess, but they like broke down the timeline for when you're actually going to watch each movie in relation to the episodes.

[00:03:09] And if you're, if you're doing that, then you're going to want to watch this movie right after you watch episode 13 of season five, which is also episode 100.

[00:03:21] Cute.

[00:03:23] Um, it's also the Christmas episode.

[00:03:26] Um, and like slight spoilers, this does kind of smooth out the wrinkle wherein Shoto and Katsuki are taking part in the hero activities of this movie.

[00:03:36] Um, because in the timeline they do officially have their provisional licenses as of the episode 513, even though we're covering it, uh, just after we covered season four.

[00:03:47] So here we are.

[00:03:49] Yeah. I fully forgot to double check any of that.

[00:03:52] So I was just like, yeah, this sounds right.

[00:03:55] Well, it's, it's the order that we watched it in and it's fine.

[00:03:59] Yeah. Yeah. Um, and yeah, whatever we're releasing it now because we say so and we desperately need something nice right now and we wanted to.

[00:04:09] So desperately, desperately.

[00:04:12] Um, I think I'm probably going to re-release this after, uh, episode 13 of season five, two, like just to keep the storyline straight.

[00:04:21] Um, which coincidentally July 4th comes right out, comes out right after that episode is scheduled to release in our schedule, podcast schedule, whatever.

[00:04:32] You know what I mean?

[00:04:33] Calendars are hard.

[00:04:35] They are. They are.

[00:04:36] They are.

[00:04:37] So I think we'll probably need some cheering up then too.

[00:04:41] Yeah.

[00:04:42] Yeah.

[00:04:43] Yeah.

[00:04:43] Cause, uh, I mean, none of us are particularly patriotic anyway, but I think we're really not going to be feeling.

[00:04:50] I was going to buy so many flags.

[00:04:52] Not just waiting next year as a whole.

[00:04:55] Not even talking about it.

[00:04:56] Just trying to get through the holiday season.

[00:04:59] Yep.

[00:04:59] Yes.

[00:05:00] Totally fair.

[00:05:01] Good idea.

[00:05:01] Good idea.

[00:05:02] But yeah, so probably really re-release it then.

[00:05:06] And then I'll probably do the same thing with movies three and four.

[00:05:10] So.

[00:05:11] Yeah.

[00:05:12] Yeah.

[00:05:12] Good call.

[00:05:12] This is why you're the leader of the podcast.

[00:05:17] Um, later joining fans should also note that Heroes Rising used a lot of plot material that was intended basically for like the first version or the first draft of the series finale.

[00:05:31] I think it was also at this time that like Horikoshi wasn't quite sure if he was going to get the entire manga, um, basically out as an anime.

[00:05:41] Like, it was that point at whatever.

[00:05:45] Which is fair because that happens a lot.

[00:05:47] Yeah, it does.

[00:05:48] Or on host high school club.

[00:05:50] Um, what's your face with the four dragons and Hawk.

[00:05:54] Mm-hmm.

[00:05:55] Um.

[00:05:56] Do you want to remind me?

[00:06:00] Um.

[00:06:00] Um.

[00:06:01] Desolate.

[00:06:02] That needs a second season.

[00:06:04] God damn it.

[00:06:05] Damn it.

[00:06:06] I also stopped reading the manga.

[00:06:09] The manga.

[00:06:09] Not the manga.

[00:06:10] The manga.

[00:06:11] Because it does not exist.

[00:06:13] How does it not exist?

[00:06:14] It hurts me.

[00:06:15] It's on the shelf.

[00:06:17] Oh, did they stop writing it?

[00:06:18] No.

[00:06:19] It just does not exist for me.

[00:06:21] Oh.

[00:06:22] Because it hurts me.

[00:06:22] Oh, okay.

[00:06:24] I was about to say, I was like, you have a whole section of it at work, but fine.

[00:06:27] Okay.

[00:06:30] Okay.

[00:06:30] Anyway, but basically at the, at the point when Heroes Rising was being written or developed, they were like at the point of deciding whether all of the manga was going to be adapted.

[00:06:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:06:41] Um, and we will point those elements out as we get to them.

[00:06:43] And as I remember to point them out.

[00:06:46] Mm-hmm.

[00:06:47] Um, but one of them is that Hawks actually appeared in the movie before his intro episodes in season four actually aired.

[00:06:57] What?

[00:06:57] That's so funny.

[00:06:58] Um, and basically this is mostly because Hero Rising was released in tandem with the manga meta liberation arc rather than the anime, which is what we kind of saw reversed with your next.

[00:07:14] It was like right in line with where the anime was.

[00:07:17] Um, but Heroes Rising was right in line with where the manga was at the time.

[00:07:21] That makes sense.

[00:07:22] Yep.

[00:07:23] Yep.

[00:07:23] Time is hard.

[00:07:24] Now, onto the actual movie.

[00:07:27] Ah, prologue.

[00:07:28] We open.

[00:07:29] Production value highly increased.

[00:07:32] Yes.

[00:07:33] We do.

[00:07:34] We open on a car chase, which includes Rock Lock and some other heroes chasing down a transport truck that is being driven by Spinner and defended by Dobby and Compress.

[00:07:45] Yeah. And you know Spinner was living his best GTA life.

[00:07:48] Yep.

[00:07:49] And he was also stressed out because he still hasn't learned how to drive.

[00:07:53] He knows how to drive from GTA.

[00:07:55] Just a bit.

[00:07:56] Just a bit.

[00:07:57] He spent too much time watching, uh, playing video games.

[00:08:01] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:01] Yep.

[00:08:02] Uh, there is an electric hero lady who's very hot and she's only on screen for like three seconds.

[00:08:08] She might've died at the end of it, but she didn't.

[00:08:11] Um, in, in our hearts because the fandom has agreed that this is Dinky's mom.

[00:08:16] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:16] Yeah.

[00:08:16] Her name is deadbolt.

[00:08:18] There's no way he's not related to her somehow.

[00:08:21] Yeah.

[00:08:22] They're related.

[00:08:23] They're mother and son.

[00:08:25] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:25] I almost said father and son.

[00:08:26] I'm sorry.

[00:08:27] She looked kind of young though.

[00:08:29] I would guess like sibling or cousin.

[00:08:31] Yes.

[00:08:31] Sibling or cousin would work too.

[00:08:33] Or she could have been a little slut and had him young.

[00:08:36] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:37] More power to her cause she's hot.

[00:08:39] She is hot.

[00:08:40] Yes.

[00:08:41] Yeah.

[00:08:41] We're, we're joking by the way, listeners.

[00:08:44] Yes.

[00:08:45] Everything is a joke instead of the academic tone of our previous episode.

[00:08:50] Was it academic?

[00:08:52] Not even remotely.

[00:08:53] It was very academic.

[00:08:54] Come on.

[00:08:55] We tried.

[00:08:57] Oh, anyway, anyway, Endeavor barf.

[00:09:01] He saves the day by lighting the truck on fire.

[00:09:05] Nobody knew what was in the truck.

[00:09:07] Sure.

[00:09:09] But it does reveal that the League of Villains members that we had seen were actually twice

[00:09:13] doubles.

[00:09:14] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:15] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:15] This is a bit of a spoiler, but I am already having feelings about copy Dobby's fire being

[00:09:21] the equal of Endeavor's.

[00:09:22] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:23] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:24] Feelings.

[00:09:25] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:26] Hawks arrives to help investigate.

[00:09:29] And again, this is his first time appearing on screen.

[00:09:32] Yay.

[00:09:33] Oh, and basically they come to the conclusion that the League of Villains was hauling some

[00:09:37] sort of no-moo because there was a life support chamber in the back, but the chamber is now

[00:09:42] empty where we as the audience, we did see someone in it at one point, but it is now

[00:09:47] empty.

[00:09:48] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:48] And then we pan to new character, Nine, and his three little cronies.

[00:09:54] Uh, he managed to get out of the truck unscathed and is now the villain of the movie.

[00:09:58] Cue opening credits.

[00:10:00] Yep.

[00:10:01] And I'm just gonna say what we're all thinking.

[00:10:03] Wolf dude, hot.

[00:10:05] Sure.

[00:10:05] He is.

[00:10:06] Yeah.

[00:10:06] With his little cigarette.

[00:10:07] With his cigar.

[00:10:09] Yeah.

[00:10:10] And his fur wings.

[00:10:12] Yes.

[00:10:12] Mm-hmm.

[00:10:13] Mm-hmm.

[00:10:14] All right.

[00:10:15] Act one.

[00:10:15] We open on a nauseatingly idyllic summer island where Class 1A is working as their own

[00:10:23] hero agency to gain real-world experience.

[00:10:26] Also, the great bitch gets dunked on hard and most of their hero work involves just doing

[00:10:33] free labor and errands because it's an idyllic summer island.

[00:10:38] Yep.

[00:10:39] Love it.

[00:10:39] And yet, they still take their errand duties super seriously because they're little cuties.

[00:10:45] They've never worked customer service in their lives.

[00:10:49] Also, I love that Ojiro got thanked instead of the great bitch.

[00:10:53] Yes, as it deserves.

[00:10:55] And I love that Sato's really intense face scared the kid that he saved from drowning.

[00:11:00] And I loved Katsuki being a lazy ass.

[00:11:03] And there's this one point where Izuku uses a life raft to drag Jiro and Ochako with him

[00:11:09] on one errand.

[00:11:11] I can't remember which one it was.

[00:11:12] And just this sequence has so many amazing moments.

[00:11:15] Like you said, production value has gone way up.

[00:11:18] And you can see it not just in the animation value, but also in just like the little moments

[00:11:25] that they've squeezed in.

[00:11:26] Yeah.

[00:11:26] Yeah, for sure.

[00:11:28] Also, the island is named Naboo Island.

[00:11:31] And Horikoshi, your war of the stars.

[00:11:33] Please.

[00:11:34] You can't help it.

[00:11:36] I hate him.

[00:11:37] No, you don't.

[00:11:39] We do learn that it is the stupid head hero public safety commission who actually came

[00:11:45] up with the quote unquote idea slash quote unquote free labor of sending students out to

[00:11:52] the U.

[00:11:52] And they are also trying to like build confidence after all might's retirement because Japan is

[00:11:57] kind of going to shit right now.

[00:11:59] Mm hmm.

[00:11:59] Also, they need child soldiers.

[00:12:01] Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough.

[00:12:05] Yeah.

[00:12:05] So after the little opening montage of all their heroic errands, Deku meets Maharo and

[00:12:12] Katsuma Shimano, sister and brother.

[00:12:15] Maharo, the older sister, is unimpressed by the UA kids.

[00:12:19] But Katsuma is in awe of the quote unquote heroes.

[00:12:23] Oh, my God.

[00:12:24] He is so obsessed with Izuku right off the bat.

[00:12:26] It's so cute.

[00:12:28] But Maharo and Katsuma are the freaking cutest little babies ever.

[00:12:33] They're freaking adorable.

[00:12:34] And Maharo lectures Izuku about taking too long to find her brother.

[00:12:39] And he just takes it.

[00:12:40] Yes.

[00:12:41] Yes.

[00:12:42] She is correct in all ways.

[00:12:44] I love her so much.

[00:12:46] Oh, she's so funny.

[00:12:47] She's so sappy.

[00:12:48] She's amazing.

[00:12:49] Oh, such good beans.

[00:12:51] All right.

[00:12:52] And then because Bakugo refuses to do any hero errand work, which is very fair to me, he

[00:12:59] gets stuck with the night watch.

[00:13:02] And while doing this, we get a very nice Baku Deku moment, even though it's likely for

[00:13:08] the benefit of newcomers to the show through the movie, like they do a little backstory,

[00:13:14] basically a backstory quickie there.

[00:13:16] But it includes prolonged eye contact.

[00:13:20] Prolonged eye contact.

[00:13:21] Prolonged eye contact.

[00:13:23] Prolonged eye contact.

[00:13:25] And it's so prolonged.

[00:13:27] Oh, my God.

[00:13:28] So prolonged.

[00:13:29] Also, the island dwellers make a feast to thank class one.

[00:13:33] A and this must be when the edible kicked in because then it says, God damn it.

[00:13:38] I'm so hungry.

[00:13:39] And this island is so beautiful and idyllic and I need to live there so bad.

[00:13:42] And you know what?

[00:13:43] I stand by that.

[00:13:45] Yes.

[00:13:45] Correct.

[00:13:48] Also, arguably, since this moment was like made for new fans, this moment can only be read

[00:13:54] as supremely gay.

[00:13:56] It just means their entire relationship past and future is also canonically supremely gay.

[00:14:02] So God damn gay.

[00:14:04] Also, Kasuma shows up to let them know that there's a villain attacking and Katsuki almost

[00:14:09] runs him over in his excitement to finally fight.

[00:14:12] He's like, yes, I finally get to punch something.

[00:14:15] He wants to burn everything down.

[00:14:19] And then back in Japan, we have to continue the truck investigation because that's the premise

[00:14:24] and plot reasons.

[00:14:26] Basically, both the heroes and the villains are like trying to figure out what's going on

[00:14:30] with the truck and its cargo.

[00:14:32] And then in Kyushu, we meet the Shimano's father who is away on work and also left his

[00:14:40] toddler children alone.

[00:14:43] I know they're not toddlers, but like they might as well be toddlers.

[00:14:47] But they're being cared for by the community.

[00:14:50] It's cute.

[00:14:50] Yeah.

[00:14:50] Very different culture.

[00:14:52] Yep.

[00:14:53] But basically, we meet him as he is attacked by Nine and his cronies.

[00:14:58] And we see Nine steal Mr. Shimano's quirk.

[00:15:01] And he proceeds to fucking destroy the city.

[00:15:04] Mm hmm.

[00:15:05] Just immediately fucking wrecks it.

[00:15:09] But it turns out that Shimano's quirk, it doesn't work on type B blood, which is what

[00:15:15] Nine has.

[00:15:16] So he gets a lot of blowback from very suddenly decimating an entire city.

[00:15:23] And so he decides to target the Shimano's kids because quirks are hereditary.

[00:15:30] Mm hmm.

[00:15:30] They don't say what his quirk was at that point.

[00:15:33] And I didn't remember.

[00:15:35] So I was just rolling with it.

[00:15:37] Nope.

[00:15:37] We don't need to know what it is because he reveals it later.

[00:15:40] Mm hmm.

[00:15:41] And then back on Nabu, fucking Nabu.

[00:15:45] Bakugo has essentially like carried Katsuma the whole way to where the villain is.

[00:15:50] And he just yeets Katsuma while attacking the villain, which has the appearance of a giant, like, praying mantis.

[00:15:57] But it turns out that the villain is not a villain.

[00:16:00] It's an illusion cast by Mahiro because she's still deeply unimpressed with all of them.

[00:16:07] She's a kid.

[00:16:08] Kids do stupid shit.

[00:16:09] But also Bakugo gets understandably real pissed at the children for doing stupid children things.

[00:16:16] Mm hmm.

[00:16:17] But Deku basically like pulls him off and like makes it so he's not like yelling at the tiny children, which is also good.

[00:16:24] We don't yell at tiny children.

[00:16:26] And they wrassle about it.

[00:16:28] And it's very gay.

[00:16:29] So gay.

[00:16:31] But also the rock music when Katsuki angrily introduces himself to Mahiro.

[00:16:37] Just, I help.

[00:16:39] It's perfection.

[00:16:40] It's, it's not weird at all.

[00:16:43] It is perfectly in tune with the themes, plot and character.

[00:16:47] It's so extra and I love it.

[00:16:49] But also Katsuki calls Mahiro impudent and Katsuki, darling, I don't think you got any room to be calling anyone impudent.

[00:16:59] Especially not the next generation.

[00:17:00] He has not finished his self-realization journey.

[00:17:05] He's so funny.

[00:17:07] Oh, I love him so much.

[00:17:08] All right.

[00:17:09] And then once that is all settled and they're done wrestling and possibly making out off camera.

[00:17:15] Mm hmm.

[00:17:16] The next day we have Bakudoku moment number two.

[00:17:20] Three.

[00:17:20] That doesn't include the wrestling, by the way.

[00:17:22] That's like point one point five.

[00:17:24] This moment sees Bakugo eavesdropping again.

[00:17:28] But basically he's listening in while Deku and Katsuma bond over heroes being the coolest guys ever in all existence.

[00:17:36] Oh man, Katsuki is eavesdropping so hard that his popsicle melts and falls off the stick.

[00:17:42] I would have cried.

[00:17:44] Honestly, same.

[00:17:47] It's so upsetting.

[00:17:48] Oh man, but also Izuku and just the way he interacts with the kids.

[00:17:54] He's just okay.

[00:17:55] Spoilers, spoilers for everything.

[00:17:57] Spoilers for everything.

[00:17:58] Literally everything.

[00:17:59] I did not hold back, apparently.

[00:18:01] But he's going to be such an amazing goddamn teacher.

[00:18:05] He's just, he's so good with kids.

[00:18:07] And then it's just me screaming.

[00:18:09] Yep.

[00:18:10] An entire line of Fern screaming in all caps.

[00:18:13] It's always Fern screaming.

[00:18:15] Yeah.

[00:18:15] Yeah.

[00:18:16] That's, that's true.

[00:18:18] But Horikoshi was planting that eventuality this early.

[00:18:24] I am so mad.

[00:18:26] But also it was really good.

[00:18:28] Yeah.

[00:18:28] And then with this, we do get our first dip into the save to win, win to save theme of the movie, which is also continued throughout the rest of the property kind of from this point.

[00:18:39] You have to be like different kinds of heroes and do different kinds of things and work together.

[00:18:45] Also, I still can't keep this straight.

[00:18:48] Was Izuku the one that came up with this concept?

[00:18:50] Like, is this the first time this has come up or has it come up earlier?

[00:18:53] No, it, I believe it either first comes up with at another point or it is referred to again at the point where Izuku and Bakugou fight at ground beta.

[00:19:05] And All Might basically comes to stop them.

[00:19:09] Right, right.

[00:19:10] He's telling them about themselves.

[00:19:12] He's like, you have to save to win and win to save.

[00:19:15] Like, come together, you'll get more done and stop fighting.

[00:19:18] Mm hmm.

[00:19:19] Mm hmm.

[00:19:20] Yeah, that, yeah.

[00:19:21] But it's a lot.

[00:19:22] It's a lot more subtle up until this point.

[00:19:24] And then later seasons.

[00:19:26] Yeah.

[00:19:27] Um, but yeah, we also learned that the kid's mom is dead.

[00:19:30] Their dad travels a lot for work.

[00:19:31] So they mostly live on their own.

[00:19:33] And as Nicole mentioned, like they're, they're taken care of by the community.

[00:19:37] Even though they're toddlers.

[00:19:41] Yeah, very, very different culture.

[00:19:44] Yes.

[00:19:45] And I, I know it.

[00:19:46] I respect it.

[00:19:47] It works great.

[00:19:48] Um, but we're, I, I am a stupid dumb American, but also this guy's, their dad leaves them for weeks at a time and they're tiny baby children.

[00:19:59] Come on.

[00:19:59] Yeah.

[00:20:00] Yeah.

[00:20:00] That's a lot.

[00:20:01] Like this isn't a kid running errands across the town.

[00:20:05] This is, that's a pretty huge responsibility.

[00:20:07] Yeah.

[00:20:09] Yeah.

[00:20:09] Anyway.

[00:20:10] Um, with that, the idyllic ness of the island ends because we go right into act two where nine and his cronies invade the island.

[00:20:20] Mm hmm.

[00:20:20] Not subtly at all.

[00:20:23] For real.

[00:20:24] Good God.

[00:20:24] They just crash into the, into the harbor.

[00:20:27] All right.

[00:20:27] So we have chimera and mummy.

[00:20:29] Chimera is the wolf guy that you two think is hot.

[00:20:32] And for some reason he doesn't ding my monster lover bells at all.

[00:20:37] So y'all can have him.

[00:20:38] Um, and mummy who has bandages.

[00:20:42] We learned about his quirk later.

[00:20:43] Um, while slice, which is a literal carbon copy of Medusa from Marvel.

[00:20:49] If you don't know her, go look it up.

[00:20:51] It is the exact same person.

[00:20:53] That's so fucking funny.

[00:20:54] Um, but they arrive and they like, she destroys all the boats on the island.

[00:21:00] Nine goes out to look for the kids.

[00:21:02] Chimera destroys communications while mummy starts destroying infrastructure.

[00:21:07] The UA kids fight back, but they're horribly outmatched.

[00:21:10] Oh, poor babies.

[00:21:12] Um, so basically they call in reinforcements from the rest of the hero agency.

[00:21:16] Cause it was basically half of the agency was out doing their stupid little errands.

[00:21:21] And the other half was still back at the agency building while Deku goes off on his own and

[00:21:26] searches for the, apparently the only two children on the island that he cares about.

[00:21:32] But they are relevant to the plot.

[00:21:34] Yes.

[00:21:36] Yeah.

[00:21:37] What's ironic is that they probably could have gotten away with everything if they had just

[00:21:41] snuck in quietly, but no, they had to be extra as fuck.

[00:21:44] Yeah.

[00:21:44] If they had literally just come as tourists, found the kid, stole his quirk, it would be

[00:21:50] doomsday so much quicker, but no, you had to be dumb about it.

[00:21:54] Hmm.

[00:21:55] Anyway.

[00:21:56] Also Deku goes to look for the Shimano kids because they did call the agency right before

[00:22:01] communications go down.

[00:22:02] So they did.

[00:22:03] They did.

[00:22:03] Yeah.

[00:22:04] There's it's plot relevant.

[00:22:05] And, and, and Izuku yells at Bakugo for not taking the call seriously.

[00:22:10] As he's children.

[00:22:16] Also, if y'all haven't seen the movie, we are describing it beat for beat.

[00:22:20] We really are.

[00:22:21] I've just been like listening.

[00:22:24] Yeah.

[00:22:24] Just interrupt us whenever you want Maria.

[00:22:26] We're just going to be on a roll.

[00:22:28] I know I was expecting this.

[00:22:31] Mm hmm.

[00:22:32] I'm just warm and fuzzy over here.

[00:22:34] Good.

[00:22:34] Nice.

[00:22:35] All right.

[00:22:36] So Bakugo, Kirishima and Denki take on mummy.

[00:22:40] Basically in a callback to their fight against meatball kid at the provisional license exam.

[00:22:45] Um, at least according to my memory.

[00:22:47] Uh, but Bakugo is actually captured and used as a weapon against Denki and Kirishima.

[00:22:53] And like, seriously, what is with Horikoshi and the capturing body horror trauma specifically

[00:22:59] for Bakugo?

[00:23:00] Like leave him alone.

[00:23:01] And it's because he's Horikoshi's favorite and Horikoshi is, as we all know, a sadist.

[00:23:06] Sir, that is my son.

[00:23:09] Doesn't matter.

[00:23:11] He's the favorite.

[00:23:12] So he gets the torture.

[00:23:13] Oh, my boy.

[00:23:14] Anyway, uh, back at the beach.

[00:23:17] Uh, this is where the Chimera fight occurs and not even Shoto and Tokoyami are really a

[00:23:23] real match for a chimera at this point.

[00:23:26] It's kind of pathetic.

[00:23:27] Yeah, it's kind of insane because Shoto and Tokoyami are two of the strongest in the class.

[00:23:34] Um, also Chimera asks Shoji, uh, who shows up if he ever resents his parents because he's

[00:23:41] a heteromorph.

[00:23:42] So that's also some groundwork being laid because Horikoshi is always doing the most.

[00:23:46] Yeah.

[00:23:47] Like, bro, like, first of all, Chimera, well, we're a little busy, but also poor Shoji.

[00:23:54] Why would you ask him that?

[00:23:55] I know.

[00:23:55] He's a baby.

[00:23:56] He loves his parents.

[00:23:57] I can assume.

[00:23:59] Yeah, we have no, we don't know anything about them.

[00:24:01] We assume they love him.

[00:24:02] All right.

[00:24:03] And with that, we pan back to Nine who destroys the Shimano house because he's fucking extra.

[00:24:10] Um, and he does corner the kids and we see through what I interpret as a search type

[00:24:17] quirk.

[00:24:17] Um, he sees that the little brother Katsuma has the quirk that he's searching for and

[00:24:23] it's called cell activation.

[00:24:24] We also see that Nine observes Deku's quirk in that moment as super strength.

[00:24:30] So it's not a very accurate, accurate quirk searcher just from one quick glance.

[00:24:37] Yeah.

[00:24:38] And the sub, he just calls it a superpower, but he doesn't give it a name.

[00:24:41] He just goes, Oh, that's a superpower.

[00:24:44] Um, which implies that he noticed something odd.

[00:24:48] Yeah.

[00:24:48] Like, yeah.

[00:24:49] Like he notices it's super strength or superpower, but it's not like run of the mill.

[00:24:54] Yeah.

[00:24:55] Yeah.

[00:24:55] There's something weird about it.

[00:24:56] Yeah.

[00:24:57] That's what I think that's what he meant by superpower is that, oh, that's not just a power.

[00:25:02] That's a superpower.

[00:25:06] Yeah.

[00:25:07] He's super duper.

[00:25:08] Yep.

[00:25:10] All right.

[00:25:11] At this point, uh, the quirks that we see Nine use include storm creation, which I think

[00:25:16] is his original quirk, um, laser fingers, some sort of air shield generation and, uh, the

[00:25:24] cork search thing that he's using.

[00:25:26] And he reminds very, he reminds Deku very much of AFO, which is a very obvious parallel

[00:25:32] to draw because they both have the multiple quirks.

[00:25:35] They both have a life support mask going on and also be scaly.

[00:25:39] Yep.

[00:25:40] Yep.

[00:25:40] Yep.

[00:25:40] And then back at the mummy fight, Katsuki throws off mummy's control and mummy's quirk.

[00:25:45] Basically, if he gets his bandages around an object, he can control the object and make

[00:25:50] it his like own personal, like little soldier guy.

[00:25:53] It's really cool quirk.

[00:25:54] Rude, but cool.

[00:25:56] Mm hmm.

[00:25:56] Um, but basically Katsuki is, Katsuki is able to throw off the control and is able to then

[00:26:01] defeat him easily now that he knows how his quirk works.

[00:26:04] Um, and if this wasn't anime physics, mummy would be fucking dead.

[00:26:09] He like throws him through four different buildings or something.

[00:26:14] Yeah.

[00:26:14] Katsuki got pissed.

[00:26:16] Yep.

[00:26:16] He's like, I'm going to murder you now.

[00:26:18] Yes.

[00:26:19] Mm hmm.

[00:26:20] Um, and then Katsuki heads off to fight the other villains while he leaves the other

[00:26:25] two to like help with the evacuation or whatever's going on there.

[00:26:29] Uh, it turns out Chimera is too strong for any of the other kids fighting them.

[00:26:33] And he's got like four or five of the UA kids fighting him at once.

[00:26:37] Mm hmm.

[00:26:37] Um, so basically their focus is on making the time so that citizens can escape from like

[00:26:44] Chimera's range of attack, whatever.

[00:26:47] Yeah.

[00:26:48] They've switched from trying to defeat him to just running down the clock, distracting

[00:26:53] him.

[00:26:54] Yep.

[00:26:54] And then back to nine, nine tries to steal one for all, but he can't because he doesn't

[00:26:59] have enough space for all of one for all quirks.

[00:27:03] So, which is also kind of a spoiler because remember at this point when the movie was released,

[00:27:09] we know that a one for all has multiple quirks, not just like multiple quirks powers stored

[00:27:15] up.

[00:27:15] Um, but it's fine.

[00:27:16] It's fine.

[00:27:17] It's spoilery.

[00:27:18] Um, so because he can't have one for all, um, he decides to just fricking kill Izuku

[00:27:24] instead.

[00:27:25] Yeah.

[00:27:26] I loved his shocked face when he realized he wasn't the only one on the island with multiple

[00:27:31] quirks.

[00:27:32] Also one for all can't be passed on without Izuku's consent, right?

[00:27:37] Right.

[00:27:37] Yes.

[00:27:38] Yeah.

[00:27:38] But obviously he wouldn't know that.

[00:27:40] So he was, I think that was just an assumption on his part.

[00:27:43] Yeah.

[00:27:43] Yeah.

[00:27:44] And or it could have been both.

[00:27:45] Like he literally doesn't have the slots needed to take one for all's 10, nine, nine or

[00:27:51] 10, whatever quirks because math is hard, but there's like, there were eight users who

[00:27:58] had a quirk, but then.

[00:28:00] No, there were seven cause all might was quirkless.

[00:28:03] Well, it was Yoichi, Kudo, uh, Bruce, the fourth guy.

[00:28:08] So he has Kudos.

[00:28:09] He has Bruce's fourth guy.

[00:28:11] Yeah.

[00:28:12] Okay.

[00:28:12] So it's seven quirks.

[00:28:13] Plus they added another one.

[00:28:15] One for all is technically one or one for all is technically Yoichi's quirk.

[00:28:20] Right.

[00:28:21] But it, it's combined with it's two quirks combined.

[00:28:24] Yeah.

[00:28:24] Yeah.

[00:28:25] But that those two quirks combined make it one for all.

[00:28:28] This was never established explicitly in a nice, it's six.

[00:28:32] It's six.

[00:28:33] It's six.

[00:28:34] I don't like it.

[00:28:35] Anyway, it is interesting that it is a villain called nine who supposedly has a

[00:28:41] nine quirk slots, frigging D and D.

[00:28:44] Um, and then like one for all could like fit in it anyway, but he doesn't have the slots.

[00:28:49] He doesn't have the spell slots to take him.

[00:28:53] So, um, with this Deku gets fucking shot.

[00:28:57] Yep.

[00:28:58] He just gets shot through the torso, like right in front of the kids and Mahiro panics.

[00:29:04] Um, and she calls for help in a way.

[00:29:07] It basically, she makes a giant illusion of Deku and is able to call for help from that

[00:29:13] giant illusion.

[00:29:14] Um, and then we get Baku Deku moment number three, where Bakugo arrives immediately to

[00:29:21] attack nine and save Deku.

[00:29:23] Like immediately.

[00:29:24] So fast.

[00:29:24] So fast.

[00:29:25] He's like, that's my husband.

[00:29:26] How dare you?

[00:29:27] So, and then Bakugo fights hard, but nine activates his Hydra quirk, which is fucking awesome,

[00:29:33] but also rude.

[00:29:34] Um, it's essentially just, it creates dragons like, right?

[00:29:39] Yeah.

[00:29:39] Yeah.

[00:29:40] Like they look like the, um, the articulated dragons that you can buy at like Ren Fairs.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:45] And like a combination of that and also blue eyes white dragon, but that could just be the

[00:29:50] Yu-Gi-Oh in me.

[00:29:50] Um, you're not wrong.

[00:29:53] Um, so Hydra in conjunction with his ability to steal quirks, um, and the quirk he stole

[00:30:01] from Mr. Shimano, it brings him to a total of about seven quirks, if not more.

[00:30:06] So he's got at least seven going on.

[00:30:09] And while Katsuki is pinned by the dragon, Deku gets boyfriend mad and attacks.

[00:30:14] He like, he's like, fuck this bullet wound.

[00:30:17] Oh my God.

[00:30:18] It's over there.

[00:30:18] These two just get so feral for each other and I, I can't even with them.

[00:30:24] It's impossible.

[00:30:24] They're so feral.

[00:30:25] It's so funny.

[00:30:26] They're so predictable.

[00:30:27] They are.

[00:30:28] They are, they are husbands.

[00:30:30] They're ridiculous.

[00:30:31] Um, but then nine strikes them both with fucking lightning.

[00:30:36] He's not playing fair.

[00:30:39] Um, basically he strikes them both with lightning and he, this lightning strike takes out the

[00:30:46] power to the rest of the island.

[00:30:48] So now there's a rolling blackout.

[00:30:49] Everything's terrible.

[00:30:50] Um, and then he like lands another final blow on both of them.

[00:30:55] But before he can attack the Shimano kids, uh, his quirk blowback hits and slice appears.

[00:31:03] She's like, Oh no, my boyfriend.

[00:31:06] Um, basically, basically she's like, God damn it.

[00:31:09] You fucking idiot.

[00:31:10] You idiot.

[00:31:11] You and your damn blowback.

[00:31:13] Um, and it's at this point that the kids who were doing evacuation also arrive on the scene

[00:31:18] and they're able to save the kids and Bakugo and Deku and they all run away.

[00:31:23] Um, also at this point, Uraraka is like running around touching everyone.

[00:31:27] So they're weightless and easier to carry.

[00:31:29] She definitely accidentally touched Izuku's dick.

[00:31:32] And that's when her crush started to fade.

[00:31:34] Yep.

[00:31:35] She's like, Oh, I don't like this.

[00:31:37] Just kidding.

[00:31:38] Just kidding.

[00:31:39] It was his stomach.

[00:31:40] Yeah, it was, it was his stomach.

[00:31:41] It was his waist.

[00:31:42] It was his belt.

[00:31:43] Um, Chimera falls back to rendezvous with slice and nine, even though Shoto wants to fucking attack him.

[00:31:50] He has a thing against dog head of remorphs.

[00:31:53] I feel like.

[00:31:54] He just can't stop.

[00:31:57] Yeah.

[00:31:58] He's like, I'm losing.

[00:32:00] No, absolutely not.

[00:32:02] Must attack.

[00:32:03] Uh, but also there was like a bit of a Toto Ida moment right there.

[00:32:07] Yeah.

[00:32:08] And I was like, I see you.

[00:32:10] I see you too.

[00:32:11] Yeah.

[00:32:11] I've seen on TikTok.

[00:32:12] Yeah.

[00:32:13] I've seen on TikTok that like, Ida has stepped into a big brother role for Shoto.

[00:32:18] And I'm like, no, they're just in love.

[00:32:20] And y'all are straight.

[00:32:22] Yeah.

[00:32:23] I, that they definitely had a moment there.

[00:32:25] Oh yeah.

[00:32:26] It was cute.

[00:32:27] Okay.

[00:32:28] I need to pause.

[00:32:28] Cause Spartan needs to go outside again.

[00:32:30] And he's staring at me.

[00:32:32] Spartan.

[00:32:33] Oh, poor boy.

[00:32:33] I need to fill my glass again.

[00:32:35] Yeah.

[00:32:36] I will also get another drink.

[00:32:39] Yes.

[00:32:39] You need one.

[00:32:42] All right.

[00:32:42] So now that everyone's had the shit kicked out of them, we are now in act three.

[00:32:48] Uh, basically the kids and the Islanders all fall back.

[00:32:53] They just find a shelter and hunker down during the nighttime.

[00:32:56] Um, Denki and Momo are preparing and they're like charging all the emergency supplies while

[00:33:02] the rest of the kids are basically just organizing relief efforts.

[00:33:07] Yes.

[00:33:07] And there's food and it once again looks delicious and I'm getting hungry again, just thinking

[00:33:12] about it.

[00:33:13] Mm.

[00:33:14] So basically as a wrap up to the last fight, Mami has been captured and chained up.

[00:33:20] He's not a threat anymore.

[00:33:21] Uh, Bakugo and Deku, they're like superficial and like internal wounds have been mostly healed,

[00:33:29] but the Island healers, they can't really do anything for the bones that have been broken

[00:33:35] that like need time to heal.

[00:33:37] Mm.

[00:33:37] Um, but then Katsuma steps in and offers his cell activation quirk to try to help.

[00:33:44] Yeah.

[00:33:44] Being born with a healing quirk probably means that you more or less have to work in the

[00:33:49] medical field.

[00:33:50] And I feel bad for Katsuma and for anyone else who feels significant social pressure

[00:33:56] to go into a specific field.

[00:33:58] Yeah.

[00:33:58] They are essentially pigeonholed.

[00:33:59] Whether or not they want to.

[00:34:00] Yeah.

[00:34:01] Pigeonholed into the ER.

[00:34:03] Yeah.

[00:34:03] Like, they can't really escape.

[00:34:05] So we kind of learned that cell activation works as some sort of healing factor above

[00:34:11] regular healing quirks.

[00:34:13] Yes.

[00:34:13] And then we go over to Nine and his crew and they're all hanging out at a lighthouse.

[00:34:17] It's cozy.

[00:34:18] It's sexy.

[00:34:19] Mine is asleep.

[00:34:20] He is asleep.

[00:34:22] And we essentially get a flashback of how the crew all came together.

[00:34:26] Nine seemingly with his original quirk of storm creation saved Chimera who had been targeted

[00:34:33] for his heteromorphism.

[00:34:35] And the other two joined up presumably because Nine is hot.

[00:34:40] I don't know.

[00:34:40] He is pretty good looking.

[00:34:42] He's fucking hot.

[00:34:44] We didn't talk about it, but Horikoshi is back at it.

[00:34:48] Yeah.

[00:34:48] Back at it with the silver hair, yellow eyes, dark eyes, nonsense.

[00:34:53] He's hot.

[00:34:54] And then at some point, Nine teams up with the League of Villains because of course he

[00:34:59] does.

[00:35:00] And he essentially volunteers to be one of their experiments so that he can get more power

[00:35:06] because he has zone motivations.

[00:35:08] Mm-hmm.

[00:35:09] So while he's in the Nomu lab, Nine is revealed to be compatible with AFO's quirk, which kind

[00:35:16] of adds a layer of interest that I don't think was there before.

[00:35:21] Because before it kind of seemed like AFO's quirk would work on anyone.

[00:35:25] Therefore, the quirk itself that he can make copies of and give out would also work on anyone.

[00:35:32] But Nine is compatible with it.

[00:35:35] Yeah.

[00:35:35] Well, I think there's also like layers of like how much your body can take and stuff since quirks are so tied to people's physiognomy.

[00:35:44] Yeah, for sure.

[00:35:46] But it is compatible with AFO's quirk up to the point where he is enabled to hold a total of nine powers.

[00:35:53] Mm-hmm.

[00:35:54] But he needs a cell activation quirk to fix all of his quirk's blowbacks.

[00:36:01] And this includes his original quirk, Storm Creation.

[00:36:04] He would always use it too much and get a lot of blowback.

[00:36:08] So to satisfy his own goals of taking over the fucking world, because of course he does,

[00:36:14] he needed something to correct the blowback essentially.

[00:36:18] And that's why he's now on the island.

[00:36:20] Yeah, it definitely looks like the blowback originally comes from the quirk he was born with,

[00:36:25] because the blowback always coincides with like these dark purple streaks that appear on his skin.

[00:36:32] Yep.

[00:36:33] Which occur whenever he uses his Storm Creation quirk.

[00:36:37] Mm-hmm.

[00:36:38] And once again, someone with a quirk that's incompatible with their body is driven to extremes to find relief.

[00:36:44] Yay, society!

[00:36:44] Horikoshi just shoved every single theme he could find.

[00:36:48] You can definitely tell this was supposed to be some kind of finale originally.

[00:36:52] Yep.

[00:36:53] Yep.

[00:36:54] Horikoshi, go to bed.

[00:36:56] Yes.

[00:36:56] So, while Baku Deku are healing and like fighting their pain together and doing like in sync romantic nonsense,

[00:37:05] they're unconscious, but they're like fighting the pain together.

[00:37:08] Um, the rest of the students basically come together to make a plan.

[00:37:12] And Katsuma, sweet little tiny angel boy that he is,

[00:37:16] he volunteers to sacrifice his quirk to save everyone on the island.

[00:37:20] Oh, sweet boy.

[00:37:22] Poor baby.

[00:37:24] Also, Izuku was hashtag triggered.

[00:37:28] He was.

[00:37:29] Nobody's touching any of his kids.

[00:37:32] Mm-hmm.

[00:37:32] Or anybody's quirk's mind.

[00:37:34] Yeah.

[00:37:34] Yeah.

[00:37:35] He, he was like, abso-fucking-lutely not.

[00:37:38] You're not doing that.

[00:37:41] Oh, Izuku.

[00:37:43] Um, but at this point, um, and Deku and Bakugo dramatically wake up and they come into the room to help with the plan making.

[00:37:53] Um, yeah.

[00:37:54] Yeah.

[00:37:54] Izuku heard someone volunteer to give up their quirk and he just like launched himself out of unconsciousness.

[00:38:01] Yep.

[00:38:01] He's like, absolutely not.

[00:38:03] We are not doing this.

[00:38:04] The astral plane can wait.

[00:38:05] And then Katsuki had to follow him.

[00:38:07] Of course.

[00:38:07] Yes.

[00:38:07] Of course.

[00:38:08] And then Bakudeku have moment number four where they silently agree to essentially team up for this.

[00:38:17] Mm-hmm.

[00:38:17] And they are on the same page as the plan comes together to use the castle ruins to their strategic advantage and to also shield the islanders, which I would argue they could have just left the islanders at that evacuation station.

[00:38:31] Um, but sure, put them in the fucking cliffs.

[00:38:33] Yes, that's more dramatic.

[00:38:34] Mm-hmm.

[00:38:35] Um, and essentially wait for help to arrive because Momoha has also sent out a drone back to the mainland with like an SOS signal.

[00:38:44] So they are going to like run down the clock.

[00:38:46] Yep.

[00:38:47] As much as they can.

[00:38:48] Yep.

[00:38:48] Also, this romantic moment is further highlighted by their shared vision of all might between them, signifying their spiritual marriage to each other and to their shared cause because they're fucking gay.

[00:38:59] This is their gay movie.

[00:39:01] They're married.

[00:39:02] It's so fucking gay.

[00:39:04] Like I thought in my head that I had maybe exaggerated it a little bit.

[00:39:07] Yeah.

[00:39:07] Nope.

[00:39:08] Same.

[00:39:08] Nope.

[00:39:09] It's fucking gay.

[00:39:12] Yeah.

[00:39:13] Yeah.

[00:39:13] It's fucking gay.

[00:39:15] Which also reminds me that again, back to the final volume being released with a bunch of new material.

[00:39:21] Everybody's like, what's going to be in those last 40 pages?

[00:39:24] Are they going to kiss?

[00:39:26] Are we going to get more confirmation on other things?

[00:39:28] Yes.

[00:39:29] But also we don't need it because we have Heroes Rising.

[00:39:32] They're fucking married.

[00:39:33] Yep.

[00:39:36] All right.

[00:39:37] And now we are on Act 4, which I have called Baku Deku Rising.

[00:39:41] Correct.

[00:39:42] I told y'all this was my Baku Deku dissertation.

[00:39:45] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:45] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:46] No, I am so glad that you graciously agreed to cover this episode because there's no way I would have had the energy to do this.

[00:39:54] And this movie deserves it.

[00:39:56] Yes.

[00:39:56] And I was also so tired when I finished these notes, y'all.

[00:40:00] Oh, God.

[00:40:01] I had to go to bed.

[00:40:03] All right.

[00:40:05] So Act 4, the siege starts.

[00:40:08] Nine, Slice, and Chimera arrive on the island.

[00:40:12] They are playing into their strategic nonsense, but whatever.

[00:40:15] But it starts with Aoyama and Momo teaming up to blast them with Momo's cannons and Aoyama's laser stomach, navel laser.

[00:40:26] Mm-hmm.

[00:40:27] And it splits the trio up.

[00:40:30] Yep.

[00:40:30] So that was successful.

[00:40:31] But Aoyama is now down because he shit his pants.

[00:40:35] Yeah.

[00:40:37] Oh, whatever.

[00:40:39] But he goes to his limit.

[00:40:43] And Momo is also now completely out of lipids, but also not dead because anime magic.

[00:40:50] But she can't create anything else.

[00:40:52] Yeah.

[00:40:52] Like maybe she meant the last of her spare lipids.

[00:40:55] Who knows?

[00:40:55] Who knows?

[00:40:56] But the way it was phrased was funny.

[00:40:58] You could have used your titty fat lipids.

[00:41:01] I'm sure you could have tried.

[00:41:02] Whatever.

[00:41:03] It took a sip.

[00:41:04] As you said, titty lipids.

[00:41:09] You're welcome.

[00:41:10] You're welcome.

[00:41:11] All right.

[00:41:12] And now that they're split up, Ochako and Cero come in with attack wave number two.

[00:41:17] They're targeting nine all by himself.

[00:41:18] And they target him with a bunch of floating rocks and the tape.

[00:41:21] And it's very reminiscent of the sports festival where she essentially floated the entire arena and then rained it down on Bakugo.

[00:41:30] Mm-hmm.

[00:41:30] And they're just trying to wear him out.

[00:41:32] They're trying to make him use his quirks because as he uses his quirks, he gets more blowback.

[00:41:37] That's the whole plan.

[00:41:38] Mm-hmm.

[00:41:39] And then we have Mina and Tokoyami are attacking Slice because they somehow managed to get her to fall into a cave.

[00:41:47] Yep.

[00:41:47] And Tokoyami is so goth about it.

[00:41:49] He's having a blast.

[00:41:52] He really is.

[00:41:52] He's so angsty.

[00:41:55] He becomes one with the darkness.

[00:41:57] With the darkness.

[00:41:59] And then on Chimera's side, we see Frappy Shoto Ida and Kirishima.

[00:42:04] They are teaming up against him at a very scenic waterfall.

[00:42:07] And now they kind of have a plan to fight him.

[00:42:10] So they hope it's going to go a little better than last time when they were caught off guard, which strategically never helps.

[00:42:16] Blah, blah, blah, blah.

[00:42:16] And then back to nine.

[00:42:18] Unfortunately, with Mineta's help, gross.

[00:42:21] They are able to unleash a literal avalanche of rocks.

[00:42:25] They, like, cause the entire mountainside to plummet down in an attempt to just bury nine and just also fucking kill him.

[00:42:32] Because you can't survive that.

[00:42:35] Yeah.

[00:42:35] Anime magic.

[00:42:37] Yep.

[00:42:37] But he's like, nah.

[00:42:39] And he just, he frees himself.

[00:42:41] He's not even sweating.

[00:42:43] And it's, it's sad.

[00:42:44] Yep.

[00:42:45] Also, I very suddenly started shipping Sero and Ochako when he was like carrying her to safety.

[00:42:51] As you should.

[00:42:52] They are very shippable.

[00:42:53] They also have several more team up moments together.

[00:42:56] They are very compatible.

[00:42:58] They do.

[00:42:59] They do.

[00:42:59] Yep.

[00:43:00] Definitely.

[00:43:01] I could see that happening.

[00:43:02] Also, poor Ochako.

[00:43:04] All hail return of the barf sparkles.

[00:43:06] And what the fuck was I on?

[00:43:09] You were trying to combine the words barf and sparkles.

[00:43:13] Yeah.

[00:43:13] There's just three nonsense words that combine barf and sparkles.

[00:43:17] Yeah.

[00:43:18] Sparfles.

[00:43:19] As high as a kite.

[00:43:20] I was so fucking high.

[00:43:22] Yeah.

[00:43:23] I have sparfles, barkles, and then hlarfles, which I think probably, I was thinking of like, the like, harf sound that vomit makes.

[00:43:35] I don't know.

[00:43:35] Whatever.

[00:43:36] So that happened.

[00:43:38] Hilarious.

[00:43:39] I love it.

[00:43:40] Tag yourself.

[00:43:42] But yes.

[00:43:43] So Nine is able to break free and he's advancing on them, but Bakugo rushes in to save them, even though it's not part of the plan, because he's a good boy.

[00:43:52] And of course, Deku follows his husband because again, they are spiritually married.

[00:43:57] Oh yeah.

[00:43:58] Izuku saw Katsuki leave and he just leaped into action without a second thought.

[00:44:02] He's like, God damn it, Katsuki.

[00:44:04] And he runs after him.

[00:44:05] Yep.

[00:44:06] Literally.

[00:44:06] Literally.

[00:44:07] All right.

[00:44:08] And so they had essentially, their plan was to stay with the kids and like be their defense, but he leaves, or they leave the kids with Shoji, Ojiro, and Jiro, who were also there to like help with reconnaissance.

[00:44:20] Mm-hmm.

[00:44:22] And then Bakudeku team up to attack Nine hand in hand.

[00:44:25] Oh yeah.

[00:44:26] I think it was about this point during my very first watch that I just started texting Nicole, hand in unlovable hand, every time their hands touched.

[00:44:36] Yes.

[00:44:37] Which, for those who don't know, is a line from the Mountain Goats, No Children, which is not a very romantic song.

[00:44:44] But at the time there was like this trend on Tumblr of making gifs of like cartoon antagonists reaching for each other.

[00:44:52] Like think like Adora and Catra from She-Ra, which gave the phrase like a much more melancholic, romantic meaning.

[00:44:59] And like my head kept screaming the phrase at me.

[00:45:02] So obviously Nicole had to suffer too.

[00:45:04] Yes.

[00:45:05] And I suffer to this day.

[00:45:07] It is still in my head.

[00:45:08] Oh yeah.

[00:45:09] Yeah.

[00:45:09] Also, Katsuki totally plays that song on full blast whenever he and Izuku have an argument or whenever he's hangry.

[00:45:16] And I realized Katsuki would really love the Mountain Goats.

[00:45:20] Yeah, he would.

[00:45:21] Especially with his own hyper fixation on his hand and Izuku's hand.

[00:45:25] Mm-hmm.

[00:45:26] Because he's a weirdo.

[00:45:27] Yep.

[00:45:29] So yeah, just imagine Katsuki scream singing that in the car on his way to work when he and Izuku are mad at each other over something stupid.

[00:45:39] Yep.

[00:45:39] Mm-hmm.

[00:45:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:45:41] Maria, are you enjoying this?

[00:45:42] I'm having a grand old time.

[00:45:45] Awesome.

[00:45:45] Okay.

[00:45:46] So with that, we pan back to the slice fight.

[00:45:51] And in that, Mina and Tokoyami succeed in cutting off a bunch of Slice's hair because her quirk is in her hair.

[00:45:59] She can manipulate it.

[00:46:00] She can use it.

[00:46:01] She can create daggers with it.

[00:46:02] So they cut a bunch of it off to essentially cut off her power.

[00:46:07] She gets mad.

[00:46:08] And she attacks them back in a wild flurry, which does injure Mina, unfortunately.

[00:46:15] So Mina is down.

[00:46:15] Her leg is injured.

[00:46:17] And Dark Shadow goes berserk, a la the camp arc.

[00:46:21] And it's great.

[00:46:22] And he goes around and attacks Slice.

[00:46:25] And Slice is like, what the fuck?

[00:46:26] Yep.

[00:46:27] And now I'm shipping Toko Mina.

[00:46:29] And clearly this movie just puts me in a shipping mood.

[00:46:31] Maybe because Katsuki and Izuku can't stop oozing romance all over the place.

[00:46:37] All over.

[00:46:38] They're gay.

[00:46:39] Ugh.

[00:46:40] And then we pan back to the Baku Deku 9 fight just in time for Bakugo to save Deku again because Deku is concerned for his friends and Bakugo is concerned for Deku.

[00:46:51] Speak of the fucking devil.

[00:46:52] God.

[00:46:54] They never stop.

[00:46:56] They never stop.

[00:46:57] They cannot physically stop saving each other.

[00:47:00] Mm-hmm.

[00:47:01] Back at the Chimera fight.

[00:47:03] The four, they're still outmatched because Chimera is very powerful.

[00:47:06] He has a very powerful quirk.

[00:47:07] But they succeed in delivering Sue's paralytic venom.

[00:47:12] So Chimera is kind of paralyzed.

[00:47:13] And they think that this is going to be enough to kind of get him to where they want him.

[00:47:18] Mm-hmm.

[00:47:19] But then fucking Chimera goes berserk too.

[00:47:22] He gets bigger.

[00:47:24] He bulks up.

[00:47:26] And he gets stronger.

[00:47:27] And instead of unleashing his fire breath, which is a thing he has.

[00:47:31] He's not just a heteromorph.

[00:47:32] He has fucking fire breath.

[00:47:34] He's able to power up that fire breath into fucking laser breath.

[00:47:40] Like, what the fuck?

[00:47:41] Yeah.

[00:47:42] He's so overpowered.

[00:47:44] He's so overpowered.

[00:47:45] And it comes out of nowhere.

[00:47:46] Like, there's nothing that would seem to prompt it.

[00:47:49] Like, Dark Shadow, we know he gets his power from darkness.

[00:47:51] We don't know what he's giving that to Chimera.

[00:47:55] Maybe tobacco.

[00:47:55] I don't know.

[00:48:00] But that just came to me.

[00:48:02] I'm so clever sometimes.

[00:48:04] I'm so proud of you.

[00:48:06] Thank you.

[00:48:08] It does, in the moment, Kirishima says that Chimera's quirk kind of reminds him of Amajiki,

[00:48:14] how it all comes together to make a really powerful blast.

[00:48:17] But again, it doesn't seem like he ingested anything to power up like Amajiki needs to.

[00:48:23] So it's like, what?

[00:48:23] Maybe he just doesn't need it.

[00:48:25] Maybe he can just turn into whatever he wants.

[00:48:28] Mm-hmm.

[00:48:28] Mm-hmm.

[00:48:30] Oh, man.

[00:48:30] But yeah, Shoto's face, when Kirishima says that, like, Amajiki?

[00:48:35] Oh, we're fucked.

[00:48:36] We're fucked.

[00:48:37] Yeah.

[00:48:40] Also, the low-res versions of Kirishima are cracking me up so hard.

[00:48:45] Oh, they were so funny.

[00:48:46] I love every single one of them.

[00:48:47] Yes, he was very comic relief in this fight.

[00:48:51] I love my boy.

[00:48:52] All right.

[00:48:53] And then back to nine, and he hits Otako and Sero hard.

[00:48:56] Like, they are now out.

[00:48:58] Mm-hmm.

[00:48:58] And then, like, there's this shot with Sero's helmet on the ground.

[00:49:02] And you can just tell that the writing and animation team for this movie love Sero.

[00:49:08] Because he's the best.

[00:49:09] And he deserves him.

[00:49:10] The best angles.

[00:49:11] He deserves all the shots.

[00:49:13] Mm-hmm.

[00:49:14] We need a spinoff of Sero.

[00:49:16] Yes.

[00:49:17] Just, just, Horkoshi, I know you're listening.

[00:49:20] I know you can't understand us.

[00:49:21] Yeah, we need 30 different spinoffs.

[00:49:22] Get on it.

[00:49:23] For each of the children.

[00:49:25] Yes.

[00:49:25] Okay, give me two seconds.

[00:49:27] Spurton's back inside.

[00:49:29] No worries.

[00:49:29] Spartan.

[00:49:31] Gonna get a drink.

[00:49:33] Also, I was at, we were at the grocery store.

[00:49:37] And they now make, you know, the sparkling ice drinks that are, like, the really, like, skinny bottles.

[00:49:44] Oh, yeah.

[00:49:45] I love those.

[00:49:45] Yeah.

[00:49:46] They've made a Starburst flavor.

[00:49:49] They made the pink one and the red one.

[00:49:51] The pink one is delicious.

[00:49:52] Ooh, good to know.

[00:49:54] I was thinking about trying those.

[00:49:55] It kind of, this is probably just my weird-ass tongue because I don't drink carbonated or juice drinks.

[00:50:01] It kind of reminds me a little bit of pink lemonade, almost.

[00:50:07] But I also haven't tried it fully chilled yet.

[00:50:10] So that might change the taste.

[00:50:12] Interesting.

[00:50:12] Good to know.

[00:50:13] I've just been sipping on it.

[00:50:17] I need to give my child his medicine when we're done.

[00:50:21] Poor sweet boy.

[00:50:22] Yeah.

[00:50:23] I'm back, by the way.

[00:50:24] He needs his heroin.

[00:50:26] Heroin.

[00:50:28] His opiate.

[00:50:31] So, yes.

[00:50:32] Everyone loves Sero, as they should.

[00:50:35] And then Nine does land another hard hit on Bakugou and Deku.

[00:50:40] But they continue fighting because Nine has just had his first blowback hit.

[00:50:45] So their plan is technically succeeding.

[00:50:47] Yep.

[00:50:48] It's technically working.

[00:50:49] Yep.

[00:50:49] And then we're back at that Chimera fight and Shoto works out a plan and the four work together to take Chimera down,

[00:50:55] including the true start of the Kirishoto ship as they both harken back to Kamino.

[00:51:02] Oh, my God.

[00:51:04] The reminiscing.

[00:51:05] The piggyback ride.

[00:51:07] Kirishima swearing to take every hit for Shoto.

[00:51:10] And then succeeding in shielding them from the laser before he dramatically collapses.

[00:51:15] Like, hello?

[00:51:17] Hello?

[00:51:17] It's me.

[00:51:19] How was I not supposed to ship them after that?

[00:51:22] You had to.

[00:51:23] Just saying.

[00:51:24] Just saying.

[00:51:25] All right.

[00:51:25] So with that, with Kirishima's valiant sacrifice and Ida and Froppy's health,

[00:51:32] Shoto is able to take out Chimera's laser fire by freezing his entire body.

[00:51:37] So he gets his hand into Chimera's mouth and just freezes him.

[00:51:44] It's badass, but this does, unfortunately, it does take Chimera out.

[00:51:49] He's down for the count, but it does also take the four of them out.

[00:51:52] They are all down.

[00:51:54] Mm-hmm.

[00:51:55] They're just dropping like flies at this point.

[00:51:57] Yep.

[00:51:58] Yep.

[00:51:58] And then we go, whoa, my microphone.

[00:52:01] And then we go, and now we are back at the nine fight, which we stay here.

[00:52:07] And nine, he takes in a bunch of medicine that he's basically been like hoarding.

[00:52:13] And he just, he just decides to create and unleash an entire fucking hurricane on them

[00:52:19] because he's, he mad.

[00:52:21] Mm-hmm.

[00:52:22] Mm-hmm.

[00:52:22] But then we get a quick jump to Japan because remember, there's another plot going on over

[00:52:28] there.

[00:52:28] They're investigating what the hell is going on in nine's wake.

[00:52:32] And Hawks is now basically interviewing Mr. Shimano and he's getting the information.

[00:52:37] Yeah.

[00:52:38] And Shimano says his quirk isn't very useful because it only works on people with type A

[00:52:42] blood.

[00:52:43] But I looked it up and that is 40% of the population of Japan, which is almost half the population.

[00:52:49] That's still useful, dude.

[00:52:52] Who told him his, his power wasn't useful?

[00:52:56] Which dickhead told him that?

[00:52:58] Teachers.

[00:52:59] I don't know.

[00:53:00] Yeah.

[00:53:01] All right.

[00:53:02] And then this is when the SOS signal comes in from Momo's drone because she's the only

[00:53:06] one fucking thinking ahead.

[00:53:08] Mm-hmm.

[00:53:08] Mm-hmm.

[00:53:09] But this is when their rescue mobilization effort starts.

[00:53:13] But back at the fight, everyone's not doing great.

[00:53:17] We're not doing well.

[00:53:18] Mm-hmm.

[00:53:19] Bakudeku are down for the moment.

[00:53:22] Shoji retreats with the Shimano kids because Nine is still advancing on them.

[00:53:26] And Jiro and Ojiro try to hold Nine back for even a little bit, but it's not even close.

[00:53:32] He does overpower both of them.

[00:53:34] And then Shoji almost makes it to the escape route.

[00:53:38] But Nine does close in and takes down Shoji.

[00:53:42] Mahuro tries to stop him.

[00:53:44] And she's like, she's being a very strong big sister, very brave.

[00:53:48] Mm-hmm.

[00:53:48] But then Nine just uses her as bait.

[00:53:51] And it's so sad.

[00:53:52] Poor sweet baby girl.

[00:53:54] She's so brave and she's trying to protect her brother.

[00:53:57] And I just, oh, the feelings.

[00:53:59] So many feelings.

[00:54:00] And then Katsuma, he sees this and then he rushes in Deku style.

[00:54:06] Like literally, it is reminiscent of Deku rushing in.

[00:54:10] And he's going to save his sister by sacrificing himself.

[00:54:14] And Nine, because he's at the moment bonkers with his, he's just almost at the pinnacle of his plan.

[00:54:22] And he reaches for him.

[00:54:24] But Bakudeku arrive to save the day again.

[00:54:28] Again, I reiterate, Izuku is going to be such a good teacher.

[00:54:33] He's so inspiring.

[00:54:34] Also, Mahuro is Dynamite's number one fan.

[00:54:38] And she is constantly doxing people online for smack talking him.

[00:54:43] Yes.

[00:54:43] You know she is.

[00:54:44] Oh, yeah.

[00:54:45] Yeah.

[00:54:45] We haven't mentioned it yet, but how Katsuma is obsessed with Izuku.

[00:54:50] Mahuro is obsessed with Bakugo.

[00:54:51] Yes.

[00:54:52] She thinks he's the coolest thing on the planet.

[00:54:55] Because they're exactly alike.

[00:54:57] Yes.

[00:54:58] All right.

[00:54:59] So they did.

[00:55:01] So it turns out Bakugo and Deku, they had been hit, but they had actually planned ahead for Nine using his lightning against them.

[00:55:10] So they used poor sweet Kaminari, who is currently brain dead or like he's on the fritz because he charged up all the batteries on the fucking island for the people.

[00:55:22] Poor boy.

[00:55:23] Poor boy.

[00:55:23] But they used him as a lightning rod because that doesn't require much thought.

[00:55:30] Oh, poor sweet Kaminari.

[00:55:34] All right.

[00:55:34] And with this, the final battle begins and the boys go plus ultra.

[00:55:38] But Nine, again, has more power ups up his sleeve because, again, he was planned to be one of, if not the final villain for the show.

[00:55:48] Mm-hmm.

[00:55:49] He essentially unleashes a tornado of his lightning, Bakugo's explosion, and the hurricane itself.

[00:55:58] Yep.

[00:55:58] And there is a lot of CGI.

[00:56:01] Mm-hmm.

[00:56:03] Also, Izuku goes all the way up to 100% for one for all.

[00:56:07] It still doesn't work.

[00:56:08] I did not miss the flapping limbs.

[00:56:11] Yeah.

[00:56:11] Yeah.

[00:56:11] It's not good.

[00:56:12] Nine is very powerful.

[00:56:14] Mm-hmm.

[00:56:14] All right.

[00:56:15] So Bakudeku, they do, like, attempt to destroy the hurricane or, like, dissipate it.

[00:56:22] But it doesn't work.

[00:56:23] And they, unfortunately, again, end up captured by Nine's hydroquark.

[00:56:28] And they're being chomped.

[00:56:29] We have the all-seems-lost moment.

[00:56:31] We shoot down to the evacuation cave where the hurricane is also causing, like, earthquakes.

[00:56:38] Mm-hmm.

[00:56:38] And everyone's in the cave with Kota, Hagakure, and Sato.

[00:56:42] And they're like, what do we do?

[00:56:44] What do we do?

[00:56:44] What the fuck's happening?

[00:56:45] Mm-hmm.

[00:56:47] Ugh.

[00:56:47] And then we get, of course, Nine's villain monologue.

[00:56:52] And all he wants is a society ruled by the powerful at the expense of the weak.

[00:56:58] Same old shit, different day.

[00:57:00] He's not creative.

[00:57:01] Yeah.

[00:57:02] There is something odd about this where his voice suddenly sounds super weird.

[00:57:07] Like, two people are talking at the same time and one of them has a deeper voice.

[00:57:10] So my theory is that at this point, he got mind jacked by All for One because it's basically

[00:57:17] All for One's exact speech.

[00:57:19] Like, almost word for word.

[00:57:20] You are so smart.

[00:57:24] I did not even pick that up.

[00:57:26] But that is genius.

[00:57:28] That is exactly what happened.

[00:57:30] Yes.

[00:57:31] Mm-hmm.

[00:57:31] That's what I'm thinking.

[00:57:32] That's what I'm thinking.

[00:57:41] Thank you.

[00:57:42] All right.

[00:57:43] So then I took a break to watch the next scene in its entirety and cried out because I did cry.

[00:57:50] It's okay.

[00:57:51] I covered the summary of the fight.

[00:57:54] Okay.

[00:57:54] Thank you.

[00:57:55] Thank you.

[00:57:55] Because it's the song.

[00:57:57] But here we go.

[00:57:58] We have...

[00:57:58] This is now the final, final fight.

[00:58:00] Everyone had said their power-ups.

[00:58:02] And then with Bakugo and Deku trapped in the Hydras, they're spurred on by Katsuma and Mahuro's cheers.

[00:58:10] Essentially, Deku realizes everything is lost, but they have one more play.

[00:58:16] And that is if Deku gives one for all to Bakugo, they can attack with double one for all.

[00:58:24] Mm-hmm.

[00:58:25] And he's essentially like he's suddenly ready to sacrifice his dream and future to save the day.

[00:58:31] Yep.

[00:58:31] Yep.

[00:58:32] Yep.

[00:58:32] So like they're trapped by the Hydras and Izuku's like, fuck it.

[00:58:36] We can't do this.

[00:58:37] And then Kazuki's face goes white.

[00:58:39] Like, oh shit.

[00:58:41] If even he thinks we can't do it, then we're fucked.

[00:58:43] But then Izuku reaches out to Kazuki as Toshi's words about working together and not losing or giving up ever play over the beginning of the song.

[00:58:53] And then Kazuki is also reaching out to Izuku.

[00:58:56] And at first their hands miss, but they keep trying.

[00:58:59] And then their fingers catch.

[00:59:01] And then they grasp each other's hands.

[00:59:03] And then there are rainbow lasers.

[00:59:04] And the lyrics start.

[00:59:06] And the smoke clears.

[00:59:07] And they both stand.

[00:59:09] And they're both glowing with one for all.

[00:59:11] And they both go super Saiyan in like reflected poses.

[00:59:15] And Izuku says Toshi would say it's fine to give one for all to Kachan.

[00:59:19] And then they flash back to their childhood.

[00:59:22] And it's all win to save, save to win.

[00:59:24] And then twin Detroit smash.

[00:59:27] It's beautiful.

[00:59:28] Oh, it's so good.

[00:59:30] I cried.

[00:59:31] You explained this so well.

[00:59:34] Beautiful.

[00:59:35] All right.

[00:59:35] So again.

[00:59:35] I just saw walls have capital letters.

[00:59:38] Oh, yeah.

[00:59:39] All of that was written in all caps.

[00:59:41] Everyone.

[00:59:42] Yep.

[00:59:43] And with this twin Detroit smash, they're able to like cause an eye in the hurricane.

[00:59:50] Basically.

[00:59:51] They like dissipate Nine's fight.

[00:59:53] And then it cues an unbelievable fight with Baku Deku.

[00:59:57] They are both going super Saiyan.

[00:59:59] They're both going double god mode, essentially.

[01:00:02] Totally.

[01:00:03] And they disperse the storm and they unleash light and rainbows everywhere.

[01:00:08] And they are just uber powerful.

[01:00:11] And it's amazing.

[01:00:13] And they defeat him with the power of gay.

[01:00:17] Yes.

[01:00:17] But also each other's power.

[01:00:18] The animation.

[01:00:19] The animation is goddamn poetry.

[01:00:21] Like the way they fight together so seamlessly and act as one being.

[01:00:25] And the first glimpse of Izuku's chaos form, we do get to see just a little bit of it.

[01:00:30] And just, I am feeling the effects of masculinity right now.

[01:00:34] I feel the testosterone.

[01:00:35] I want to go to war.

[01:00:36] I want a lightsaber.

[01:00:38] I'm a man.

[01:00:40] Yes.

[01:00:40] Exactly.

[01:00:41] You're really pumped up.

[01:00:41] I got really pumped up by that scene.

[01:00:44] Yeah, I can see.

[01:00:47] Oh my god.

[01:00:48] It was so good.

[01:00:49] Nicole starts crying.

[01:00:51] I start wanting to fight people.

[01:00:53] Yes.

[01:00:53] I start.

[01:00:54] Yeah.

[01:00:55] I cry.

[01:00:55] I think every time I've watched this movie, this scene, I start crying.

[01:01:00] Oh yeah.

[01:01:01] But yes.

[01:01:02] So they win against Nine.

[01:01:03] It's amazing.

[01:01:05] It's ground shattering.

[01:01:06] Everyone is in awe.

[01:01:08] But even though they've defeated Nine and everything is clear, the fight ends with the embers of

[01:01:16] One for All going out and the boys falling from the sky, unconscious but victorious.

[01:01:22] And the flame going out and Izuku, sayonara, one for all.

[01:01:28] Arigato.

[01:01:28] It just, it fucking kills me.

[01:01:30] And I'm not ready for season eight.

[01:01:31] I'm just not ready.

[01:01:32] No, no.

[01:01:33] We're not ready.

[01:01:34] But also, give it to me now.

[01:01:36] Oh my god.

[01:01:39] Are you caught up on season seven, by the way?

[01:01:41] Whoops.

[01:01:41] I forgot.

[01:01:42] Sorry.

[01:01:43] I'm not ready for that either.

[01:01:45] I'm not ready for anything.

[01:01:46] You're not ready for the end of season seven.

[01:01:49] No, I'm not.

[01:01:49] All right.

[01:01:51] Back to it.

[01:01:53] Epilogue.

[01:01:54] So after the smoke clears and the sky and the sun, it's all beautiful and wonderful.

[01:02:00] Hawks arrives and he goes straight to save Tokoyami because that's his son.

[01:02:06] That's his bird son.

[01:02:08] Yep.

[01:02:09] And with him is Toshi.

[01:02:11] Like they came together in front of the rest of the rescue effort.

[01:02:16] Yep.

[01:02:16] Yep.

[01:02:16] The concerned dads.

[01:02:18] Yep.

[01:02:18] And Toshi literally, he parachutes down to where Deku and Bakugou are lying on the ground.

[01:02:25] Because you can see the parachute in the background.

[01:02:28] He literally parachuted in to save them.

[01:02:30] Oh, man.

[01:02:31] I love him.

[01:02:32] And he basically, he just listens as Deku cries and confesses and apologizes for giving one for all away.

[01:02:40] And it's really sad.

[01:02:41] Oh, yeah.

[01:02:42] This is the part where I started crying because like Izuku is so sorry for disappointing Toshi.

[01:02:47] But Toshi isn't disappointed at all because he's proud as hell.

[01:02:50] And it's just, it's so sweet.

[01:02:53] But also, goddammit.

[01:02:55] Izuku loves having one for all so much.

[01:02:58] Horikoshi, I'm on my way to beat you up right now.

[01:03:01] Yes, I know I wanted him to be the first quirkless hero and you obeyed me, but I was wrong.

[01:03:05] Dammit.

[01:03:05] I was so wrong.

[01:03:06] Give him his quirk back.

[01:03:10] Okay, back to the movie.

[01:03:14] All right.

[01:03:15] Toshi does comfort him.

[01:03:16] And he's like, he tells him it's okay.

[01:03:19] Like, it's okay.

[01:03:20] He's not mad.

[01:03:20] He's not disappointed.

[01:03:22] He's like, it's okay.

[01:03:23] But we find out that one for all has actually remained with Izuku.

[01:03:29] The specters and the quirk essentially decided to stay with Izuku basically because they see him as the last user.

[01:03:37] He has powered them all up so much.

[01:03:39] They are going to see this through to the end with Izuku, the ninth user.

[01:03:43] It is unclear if there was any power transfer from Bakugo's end of one for all because, again, it is a power sharing quirk.

[01:03:53] But that's what headcanon is for.

[01:03:56] And I say yes.

[01:03:57] Yeah.

[01:03:58] Now I'm imagining a flame Katsuki stomping and hollering in Izuku's head and annoying the shit out of all the other users.

[01:04:05] Yes.

[01:04:06] Why wasn't this added for, Koshi?

[01:04:08] And then I started imagining the other users being in Katsuki's head for like 0.5 seconds before they all unanimously vote to move back into Izuku's head.

[01:04:18] Yep.

[01:04:19] They're like, absolutely not.

[01:04:20] We're not staying here.

[01:04:22] Yes.

[01:04:22] Yes.

[01:04:23] Exactly.

[01:04:24] This one is too feral.

[01:04:26] Yes.

[01:04:26] We can't deal with this one.

[01:04:29] And yes, we should mention that Katsuki seeing Toshi's vestige form in season seven, like that does kind of prove that there is a connection.

[01:04:40] Like there's a connection there.

[01:04:42] We'll get into it when we get to that point.

[01:04:44] We're interpreting it literally because we can.

[01:04:46] Because we can.

[01:04:47] And that's what makes sense story wise.

[01:04:49] Mm hmm.

[01:04:50] Anyway, we will get to it when that time comes.

[01:04:53] Yes.

[01:04:54] But with that, the rescue teams arrive and the kids are saved by all the pro heroes, including Aizawa.

[01:05:01] Because he's like, my children.

[01:05:03] Yes.

[01:05:03] Yes.

[01:05:04] Also concerned dad.

[01:05:06] Yep.

[01:05:07] And like Endeavor is also there crying like a bitch.

[01:05:12] And like a few others that we recognize.

[01:05:14] And it's just like a bunch of people came to help the kids and the island.

[01:05:18] And Nine's cronies are taken into custody, but Nine has actually escaped.

[01:05:23] He escaped to another island like right nearby.

[01:05:27] Only to come face to face with Shiggy.

[01:05:29] Because remember, Shiggy's been looking into all of this too.

[01:05:32] Yep.

[01:05:32] We completely glossed over it, but he has been.

[01:05:35] Yep.

[01:05:36] He's been very curious about his master's possible like spare.

[01:05:42] Mm hmm.

[01:05:43] Mm hmm.

[01:05:43] Um, but Shiggy like reduces him to dust.

[01:05:47] Like he would, Nine was still alive and he was still moving.

[01:05:50] He was just fucking beaten up.

[01:05:52] Um, but Shiggy's like, mm, no.

[01:05:55] So he, he kills him and he, he eliminates the threat that Nine might have posed to Shiggy and AFO.

[01:06:02] And of course, to the larger plot of AFO and Shiggy being the main antagonist.

[01:06:08] Yes.

[01:06:08] Also something that we glossed over in the beginning, but Shiggy was interested in Nine and he was strictly ordered not to get involved by Garaki.

[01:06:19] He was like, no, no, no, no, no, that's not for you.

[01:06:21] Don't even worry about it.

[01:06:21] Like, it's cool.

[01:06:22] It's cool.

[01:06:23] It's still weird.

[01:06:25] Mm hmm.

[01:06:25] It's still weird.

[01:06:27] Yeah.

[01:06:27] Like they didn't want Shiggy meeting Nine and realizing that all for one planned to do the same thing to him, especially after Nine was mind jacked.

[01:06:35] Like I think he was.

[01:06:36] Oh, he definitely was.

[01:06:38] That is now canon.

[01:06:39] Mm hmm.

[01:06:40] Yeah.

[01:06:40] Mm hmm.

[01:06:41] Yep.

[01:06:42] Yep.

[01:06:42] That's my theory.

[01:06:43] Yep.

[01:06:44] It's a brilliant theory.

[01:06:45] I love it.

[01:06:45] Thank you.

[01:06:46] Um, and then back to the kids, uh, recovery girl is able to heal everyone and Baca goes real mad because his arms fucking hurt.

[01:06:55] Because they're fucking shattered.

[01:06:57] Yep.

[01:06:58] Izuku.

[01:07:00] Oh, um, and we, we're told that Bakugo doesn't remember the fight and he doesn't remember that he got one for all for that little bit.

[01:07:10] But like, ah, personally, I feel like he, he has an inkling at least, or he's lying and saying he doesn't remember because he doesn't want to deal with it because I mean, that is Bakugo.

[01:07:19] Um, but yeah, we, as the audience and Izuku are led to assume that Bakugo does not remember.

[01:07:26] Yeah.

[01:07:26] I forgot that Izuku remembered what happened.

[01:07:29] I thought it was both of them that forgot.

[01:07:31] And then I had many thoughts about Izuku remembering, but Katsuki not remembering and all the angst that would cause.

[01:07:39] And I need 20,000 fanfics about that right now.

[01:07:42] Yep.

[01:07:43] Mm hmm.

[01:07:43] Mm hmm.

[01:07:44] Get on it, AO3.

[01:07:45] Mm hmm.

[01:07:45] All right.

[01:07:46] So we find out that no one on the island was injured or killed.

[01:07:50] Yay.

[01:07:50] Anime magic.

[01:07:53] Um, and the kids, they do help to like rebuild a lot of the infrastructure, even though the stupid ass hero public safety commission nonsense buttheads, um, they canceled the whole program.

[01:08:04] They're like, this didn't work.

[01:08:05] Yeah, no shit.

[01:08:07] They're like, oh God, all these children almost died.

[01:08:10] Almost died because we didn't send proper authority with them.

[01:08:14] Oh Lord.

[01:08:14] Oh, and with that, the kids leave the island and Bakugo and Deku bid the island farewell together.

[01:08:22] Mm hmm.

[01:08:23] Standing on the top deck all by themselves, talking at a regular volume for once.

[01:08:27] Because they're married.

[01:08:29] Mm hmm.

[01:08:29] Uh, but the kids run after them and they're somehow able to hear them from the dock far away.

[01:08:35] Um, but Katsuma, he promises to get strong enough to be a hero just like him.

[01:08:40] And Deku encourages him just like All Might did for Izuku.

[01:08:45] And he promises to see him at Uwe one day.

[01:08:49] Which, if you're caught up.

[01:08:49] Forikoshi, you fucking bitch.

[01:08:52] Which, if you're caught up.

[01:08:53] Yep.

[01:08:54] Mm hmm.

[01:08:54] Still mad.

[01:08:55] Oh, and that's the movie.

[01:08:57] I am tired and also in awe of the new canon, thanks to Fern.

[01:09:01] So, God, I love this movie so much.

[01:09:04] It's amazing.

[01:09:05] Maria, are you entertained?

[01:09:07] I am very entertained.

[01:09:08] Yay!

[01:09:09] I've just been listening the entire time and looking at all the all caps.

[01:09:15] Mm hmm.

[01:09:16] And I can tell when Fern was high as a kite.

[01:09:20] Oh, yeah.

[01:09:20] The trajectory is clear.

[01:09:22] Yeah.

[01:09:25] All right.

[01:09:26] So, moving on to main takeaways.

[01:09:30] Save to win.

[01:09:31] Win to save.

[01:09:32] Again.

[01:09:32] Mm hmm.

[01:09:33] So, this theme basically has been present since Bakugou and Izuku.

[01:09:37] Like, they really started becoming a duo.

[01:09:39] Both in the eyes of each other and in All Might's eyes.

[01:09:43] And they, like, represent the true heroism of both defeating villainy and also saving everyone around them.

[01:09:50] But also, I'll let Fern jump in here.

[01:09:52] Mm hmm.

[01:09:53] Mm hmm.

[01:09:53] Prioritizing protecting others and working together instead of hoarding power.

[01:10:00] Hmm.

[01:10:01] Hmm.

[01:10:02] Hmm.

[01:10:03] Hmm.

[01:10:04] Yep.

[01:10:05] America is terrible.

[01:10:07] Anyway.

[01:10:07] I hate it.

[01:10:08] All right.

[01:10:09] Production value.

[01:10:10] Amazing.

[01:10:11] Outstanding.

[01:10:12] Beautiful.

[01:10:12] Ugh.

[01:10:13] So fucking good.

[01:10:14] God damn it.

[01:10:15] Um, also, I feel like this is also the only movie that kind of stands on its own outside of the manga and anime.

[01:10:22] Like, yeah, we got refresher moments like we usually do in Shonen.

[01:10:26] Um, and for like the new fans who are just seeing it in theaters.

[01:10:30] Um, and for like the new fans who are just seeing it in theaters.

[01:10:30] Uh, but I feel like I'd argue that you don't really need to need to know anything about this property to have appreciated and enjoyed the movie.

[01:10:39] Unlike the other three where you kind of had to know what the fuck is going on before you watch the movie.

[01:10:45] Yeah, a little bit.

[01:10:46] This one was pretty standalone.

[01:10:48] Yeah.

[01:10:48] Yeah.

[01:10:49] Yeah.

[01:10:49] I'd agree.

[01:10:50] All right.

[01:10:51] And then we, I saw, um, nine versus ninth and tenth, um, numbers.

[01:10:58] Um, I don't know if it was on purpose, even though knowing Horkoche, it probably was on purpose.

[01:11:03] Uh, if he had anything to do with the writing, which I feel like he did, he probably handed them a whole notebook.

[01:11:09] Yeah.

[01:11:09] I was going to say, you can definitely tell that he was actively involved in a lot of the writing, presumably because, you know, most of the plot beats come from his writing.

[01:11:20] Yeah.

[01:11:20] Yeah.

[01:11:21] So they definitely used his writing as a basis and you can tell.

[01:11:24] Yeah.

[01:11:24] As opposed to your next, which is just an enjoyable cash grab.

[01:11:29] Yes.

[01:11:29] Yes.

[01:11:29] That one didn't involve Horkoche at all.

[01:11:32] Probably.

[01:11:32] At all.

[01:11:34] He was just like, okay, yes, thank you.

[01:11:36] I will take the free money.

[01:11:37] I will take the money.

[01:11:37] Yes.

[01:11:38] Use this character with the red hair and pointy teeth and yes, go for it.

[01:11:43] Mm hmm.

[01:11:44] All right.

[01:11:44] Um, it's just fun that the ninth user of one for all defeated a villain called nine.

[01:11:49] Oh yeah.

[01:11:50] There's, there's something there.

[01:11:51] There's something in there.

[01:11:53] Total Horikoshi move.

[01:11:54] Also, is Bakugo like the 10th user?

[01:11:58] Is, and if so, does that make Izuku now the ninth and the 11th user?

[01:12:04] Is that a thing?

[01:12:05] It's, it's fun to think about and theorize about, but it's not at all pertinent or necessary

[01:12:11] to the story, either in the movie or in the wider plot.

[01:12:16] So it's there, but nothing really comes of it.

[01:12:19] At least that I can see.

[01:12:20] I have decided that Katsuki also becomes the ninth user because he and Izuku are just

[01:12:28] two halves of the same coin.

[01:12:29] Yes.

[01:12:30] Okay.

[01:12:30] That works.

[01:12:31] I love that head of canon.

[01:12:33] They're the same person, your honor.

[01:12:35] They are.

[01:12:36] They really are.

[01:12:38] They spend too much time together.

[01:12:40] Literally two halves of the same soul.

[01:12:42] Yep.

[01:12:42] Mm hmm.

[01:12:43] All right.

[01:12:44] And of course we have to talk about the song.

[01:12:47] The song.

[01:12:48] All right.

[01:12:49] So the song in the final, final fight where they're fighting with the gay power of love.

[01:12:56] It's the, it's the one sung with the voice of an angel.

[01:13:00] It is called might plus the letter U and yes, it reduces me to tears every time.

[01:13:10] It's so good.

[01:13:12] So I don't know what they put in it, but God damn.

[01:13:15] They put their whole, uh, horror cussy in it.

[01:13:19] Yeah.

[01:13:20] They put their whole horror cussy in it.

[01:13:23] Yep.

[01:13:24] All right.

[01:13:24] Um, it is canonically Baku Deku's song as we now see.

[01:13:28] Um, and also the song of the entire series.

[01:13:31] It is literally, if you like read the lyrics, it's the themes of the entire show.

[01:13:36] It's great.

[01:13:37] Oh yeah.

[01:13:37] A hundred percent.

[01:13:38] Um, also it was also used in season seven, which I was, I was, I was taken aback.

[01:13:45] I was God.

[01:13:45] They're like, we're going to use this because we need themes and shit to convey.

[01:13:52] Mm hmm.

[01:13:53] Um, but they use it in season seven when, uh, spoiler, we've already talked about spoilers,

[01:14:00] but spoilers, La Brava and Gentle Criminal actually saved the day in part of season seven.

[01:14:06] And it was basically used for that confirmed romantic couple.

[01:14:11] And some listeners are probably going to remember.

[01:14:13] I've already talked about this.

[01:14:14] And you'll hear it again.

[01:14:16] It is proof.

[01:14:17] Um, it is a confirmed romantic song when it's used with Gentle Criminal and La Brava.

[01:14:23] Like they are a confirmed romantic couple.

[01:14:26] They are married.

[01:14:27] Um, so therefore it confirms again, retroactively that Baku Deku are canonically romantic.

[01:14:37] Like they are using a romantic song for these two characters.

[01:14:41] I can't possibly give you any more evidence.

[01:14:45] I will, but if you still bring out her whole dissertation.

[01:14:50] Yeah.

[01:14:51] This entire episode.

[01:14:52] Yeah.

[01:14:53] We're just going to make you listen to this again.

[01:14:55] Yep.

[01:14:56] If, if you disagree that Baku Deku is not like romantically canon in such a way that it,

[01:15:03] as much as it can be with shown in like rules and culture and censorship and all that fucking

[01:15:10] bullshit of 2024, you're just homophobic.

[01:15:13] They're gay.

[01:15:16] You can't argue with me.

[01:15:18] We won't allow it.

[01:15:20] I am right.

[01:15:22] And I will take no questions or comments.

[01:15:25] It's very homoerotic.

[01:15:27] It is.

[01:15:29] It, oh God.

[01:15:30] It really is.

[01:15:31] In the most teenager way possible.

[01:15:33] Yes.

[01:15:33] They have so many emotions.

[01:15:35] They don't know where to put them.

[01:15:36] So they, they just make everybody else cry about it.

[01:15:39] Mm-hmm.

[01:15:40] All right.

[01:15:41] Moving along to Easter eggs and foreshadowing.

[01:15:43] Um, at the very beginning, the League of Villains concludes that there must be a leak in their

[01:15:50] organization that got the heroes on their trail during the car chase.

[01:15:54] Mm-hmm.

[01:15:55] Um, folks who are all caught up on that will know, uh, spoiler, this leak is Hawks.

[01:16:01] Oh yeah.

[01:16:01] Hawks is double agenting at this point, um, in the overall timeline.

[01:16:05] Even though anime only's, they don't, they don't really know this until like season six,

[01:16:10] I want to say.

[01:16:11] I don't even remember.

[01:16:13] Or the end of season five.

[01:16:14] I don't remember.

[01:16:15] We'll get to it in the coming year.

[01:16:17] Yep.

[01:16:18] Uh, he even manages to keep his cover when one of the airhead paper pushers at the commission,

[01:16:26] like he, they had a little meeting together and one of them was yapping.

[01:16:29] Mm-hmm.

[01:16:29] And he was, he was about to blow Hawks' cover and Hawks was like, no.

[01:16:34] And he does it so well.

[01:16:35] Yeah, he was like, shut the fuck up, bitch.

[01:16:38] Exactly.

[01:16:39] But he does it spy ways.

[01:16:41] And it's great.

[01:16:42] Mm-hmm.

[01:16:43] All right.

[01:16:44] Uh, we see Tokoyami flying, um, which is something we don't know that he can do.

[01:16:50] And we know that he, he has learned it with Hawks when we get to the training arc in season

[01:16:55] five, um, in the anime.

[01:16:58] Um, again, he learns how to do this when he was working with Hawks and we haven't seen that

[01:17:03] yet in the anime up to the end of season four.

[01:17:06] Yep.

[01:17:07] Um, we do see Banjo and, and the fourth user's, I still can't remember his fucking name.

[01:17:13] Um, the fourth user's full faces and features while Izuku is doing his thousand kick workout.

[01:17:22] Izuku, sit down.

[01:17:22] Literally, it's over a thousand.

[01:17:24] Like what?

[01:17:24] No, that's too many.

[01:17:26] Izuku, darling, it's nighttime.

[01:17:27] Go to bed.

[01:17:28] Go to bed.

[01:17:29] Uh, you just know he was waiting up for Kasuki.

[01:17:32] Oh, he's so stupid.

[01:17:34] Ugh.

[01:17:35] Children.

[01:17:36] Children.

[01:17:37] Okay.

[01:17:38] Um, Denki is using support gear in the movie that he actually starts to use in season five.

[01:17:43] Again, it's just a little flip-flopped.

[01:17:45] It's fine.

[01:17:46] Um, I personally had canon that the Shimonos and Kami are blood related because of the illusion

[01:17:52] quirk.

[01:17:53] Mm-hmm.

[01:17:54] Yes.

[01:17:54] Done.

[01:17:55] Canon.

[01:17:55] Also, they look exactly the same.

[01:17:57] Yep.

[01:17:58] Hair, face.

[01:17:58] Like coloring, the eyelashes, everything.

[01:18:01] Yep.

[01:18:02] They are cousins.

[01:18:03] Mm-hmm.

[01:18:03] First cousins.

[01:18:05] Um, Izuku has type O blood.

[01:18:08] Uh, so we know that Cosmos Quirk works on multiple blood types, likely all of them because we know

[01:18:13] Oh, yeah.

[01:18:13] If it works on type O, it's going to work on all of them.

[01:18:15] Yeah.

[01:18:15] And we also know that quirks get quote unquote more powerful through the generations.

[01:18:20] So if his dad had only worked on type A, it makes sense that to become then quote unquote

[01:18:25] more powerful, it would work on more people.

[01:18:28] Mm-hmm.

[01:18:29] Um, the ex-catapult move in the early Baku Deku Rising fight, basically where they like

[01:18:35] grab onto each other and spin around.

[01:18:37] Yeah.

[01:18:38] Um, it is, they use that exact literal same move in upcoming season eight.

[01:18:45] Mm-hmm.

[01:18:46] It's the exact same move.

[01:18:47] And they're married.

[01:18:48] Ah, love it.

[01:18:50] All right.

[01:18:51] So Baku Deku sharing one for all for the final battle.

[01:18:55] This was the original ending that Horikoshi had in store.

[01:18:59] Like, this is how he had originally planned to end the series.

[01:19:02] Um, but as we see, endings change.

[01:19:06] Yes.

[01:19:07] Um, it is unclear, again, it's really unclear what transfer really happened between them

[01:19:12] because Katsuki either has amnesia or he's not talking.

[01:19:15] Um, but I had canon that Bakugo, he retains a connection to one for all.

[01:19:21] Again.

[01:19:22] Oh, yeah.

[01:19:23] We, we see him see the vestige of Toshi and I feel like that's not just a vision.

[01:19:28] I feel like the vestige is really there with him when he dies.

[01:19:31] Um, and it's also seen in his power-ups and the subsequent fights and encounters in season

[01:19:37] six and seven.

[01:19:38] Uh, I really, I won't get into them here.

[01:19:41] Um, but with his future fights, just look out for the sparkles.

[01:19:46] The sparkles tell all.

[01:19:47] The sparkles tell all.

[01:19:49] And some of them are rainbow sparkles.

[01:19:52] They're gay.

[01:19:53] Mm-hmm.

[01:19:54] All right.

[01:19:55] Um, next, we, we actually don't see Izuku use Black Whip or any of the other quirks that

[01:20:01] he accesses in season five forward.

[01:20:03] So if we're going off the timeline of episode 513, at that point, he does have access to

[01:20:10] Black Whip, if not the other quirks of one for all.

[01:20:13] Mm-hmm.

[01:20:13] Um, I would argue that we do see both of him, both him and Bakugo, they both use float

[01:20:20] at one point during their big massive fight at the end.

[01:20:23] Yeah, I can see that.

[01:20:25] Mm-hmm.

[01:20:25] And then, um, we've already covered this, but Izuku telling Katsuma that he'll someday

[01:20:29] see him at UA becomes very possible.

[01:20:33] Yeah.

[01:20:33] Because, um, because of what happens at the end of the manga.

[01:20:37] Again, spoiler, spoiler, spoiler.

[01:20:39] At the end of the manga, Izuku is a teacher at UA.

[01:20:42] Mm-hmm.

[01:20:42] So he's literally gonna see Katsuma there if he becomes a student.

[01:20:46] Fucking whore, Koshi.

[01:20:47] I'm so angry.

[01:20:49] All right.

[01:20:50] Um, where did you talk about the Mind Jack?

[01:20:54] Huh?

[01:20:54] You said you were gonna talk about the Mind Jack more, but I don't see it.

[01:20:57] Oh, when we talked about Shiggy being warned not to...

[01:21:01] Oh, okay.

[01:21:01] Okay.

[01:21:02] Yeah.

[01:21:02] Yeah.

[01:21:03] No, that is canonic, everyone.

[01:21:05] I hope everyone in the fandom hears this episode specifically, and that this canonical headcanon

[01:21:12] becomes part of the zeitgeist.

[01:21:14] I'm kind of surprised that I haven't seen it around more.

[01:21:18] I know.

[01:21:18] Well, I wonder because I watched...

[01:21:20] Maybe everyone was just too busy paying attention to Baku Deku, and I don't blame them.

[01:21:23] Right.

[01:21:24] But also, I watched the dub.

[01:21:27] Fern, did you watch the sub?

[01:21:28] Yeah.

[01:21:29] Because when I was watching the dub, his voice doesn't really change.

[01:21:33] Like, yeah, he sounds manic and sounds a little bonkers.

[01:21:36] Really?

[01:21:37] Yeah.

[01:21:37] There's a stark difference in the sub.

[01:21:40] Okay.

[01:21:40] I might have to go back and watch that somehow.

[01:21:43] But yeah, it's definitely not as stark as it sounds like it was in the sub.

[01:21:49] Oh, yeah.

[01:21:50] No, it's quite literally two people talking at the same time.

[01:21:53] Like, it's two voices layered over each other.

[01:21:54] Why did they take that out?

[01:21:56] Why are they so stupid?

[01:21:58] Maybe there was just, like, some miscommunication or something, because presumably they were working

[01:22:02] on them both at the same time.

[01:22:03] Yeah, but still, that is a big point.

[01:22:07] Anyway.

[01:22:08] It's the anime taking out the overhaul panel all over again.

[01:22:12] What the fuck?

[01:22:13] Oh, man.

[01:22:16] Things just get lost in translation and mixed up.

[01:22:19] It's a crime.

[01:22:20] Whoever was the main person doing the translation, you failed at your job.

[01:22:25] Give me your money.

[01:22:29] No, I totally did watch this in English, by the way.

[01:22:33] Yeah.

[01:22:33] And it doesn't sound like two people talking, does it?

[01:22:36] It sounds like he's just going bonkers.

[01:22:37] Yep.

[01:22:38] That is so wild.

[01:22:39] Yeah.

[01:22:39] There must have been just, you know, a wire got crossed or something got missed.

[01:22:43] How?

[01:22:43] There's just so many teeny tiny little details that everyone's taking care of.

[01:22:48] Something's going to fall through the cracks at some point.

[01:22:50] It's inevitable.

[01:22:51] I guess.

[01:22:51] But why that?

[01:22:52] It's amazing and also true.

[01:22:55] It ties everything together so well.

[01:23:00] I just assumed that that was the intent.

[01:23:02] I mean, no one, like, explicitly mentioned it, but it seemed...

[01:23:05] It's gotta be, though.

[01:23:07] Right?

[01:23:07] It makes perfect sense.

[01:23:09] Because, like, even his eyes go a little funny.

[01:23:11] Yeah.

[01:23:12] I'm now mad at everything.

[01:23:14] Okay.

[01:23:14] So, when we talk...

[01:23:16] When we do the regular episode for episode 13 of season five, we're gonna talk about it and we're gonna make people come listen to this podcast.

[01:23:25] This specific episode.

[01:23:26] It sounds good.

[01:23:27] We'll debate it some more.

[01:23:29] All right.

[01:23:30] Um, well...

[01:23:31] Okay.

[01:23:32] I'm going to stop talking.

[01:23:34] Um, Fern, was there anything else you wanted to talk about that I haven't word vomited already?

[01:23:39] Uh, well, I'm still not over Izuku remembering, but Katsuki not.

[01:23:44] Holy fucking shit.

[01:23:46] The angst.

[01:23:47] The angst.

[01:23:48] The angst.

[01:23:49] The tropes.

[01:23:50] Oh, my God.

[01:23:51] Um, also, again, the foreshadowing to Izuku's future.

[01:23:55] God fucking damn it.

[01:23:57] Horikoshi, I hate you so much.

[01:24:00] Also, just, again, all the tiny little details that they threw in to make every character shine and every little moment spark interest.

[01:24:08] Like, every second of this movie was just lovingly crafted, and I am so honored to witness this act of divine creation.

[01:24:18] Okay.

[01:24:19] That was so poetic.

[01:24:21] I don't know how to call it that.

[01:24:23] All right.

[01:24:24] Um, I have already talked enough, but I still want to talk about the fact that Baku Deku is canon.

[01:24:29] It is undeniable.

[01:24:31] You cannot say otherwise.

[01:24:32] Look at the facts.

[01:24:33] You're homophobic.

[01:24:36] They complete each other.

[01:24:37] They save each other.

[01:24:39] They help each other.

[01:24:40] They raise two beautiful children together.

[01:24:42] Those are their children.

[01:24:44] Fine.

[01:24:45] Um, they are married and have overcome the trauma of their past and present together.

[01:24:49] Okay, I'm, I'm, my brain is mush again, but Baku Dekus keep winning in their canon.

[01:24:55] And you're lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

[01:24:58] What a feast.

[01:25:00] And also, AFO definitely fucking Mind Jacked 9, and that opens up a whole new slew of headcanons.

[01:25:06] Yeah, you gotta go watch that scene in the sub.

[01:25:08] I will.

[01:25:09] I think you'll agree.

[01:25:10] Maria, was there anything else you wanted to talk about?

[01:25:13] This was so chaotic, and I love it.

[01:25:17] It sounded like you said, I'm drunk and I loved it.

[01:25:21] Quite there yet, but I am feeling warm.

[01:25:24] I'm...

[01:25:25] You got a nice little buzz.

[01:25:26] Mm-hmm.

[01:25:27] Oh, well, I hope listeners enjoyed that.

[01:25:31] I, uh, my mouth is so dry.

[01:25:35] Oh, also, when I was doing these notes, we get, I get to the end, we have a little section for final comments.

[01:25:40] My final comment is that my shoulders and neck are literally sore from all the typing I did for this episode.

[01:25:46] So I hope you're all happy.

[01:25:47] And once again, Fern is a genius.

[01:25:49] You are so amazing.

[01:25:56] Thank you for taking point on this.

[01:25:58] That was so much better than I would have done, because if I had to do the synopsis, I would have just been like, Bakudeku crying.

[01:26:08] Bakudeku crying.

[01:26:10] By the way, Mind Jacking.

[01:26:11] Bakudeku.

[01:26:12] Yeah, yeah, that would have been like it.

[01:26:14] I'm still blown away that that is a thing.

[01:26:17] It was very cinematic.

[01:26:20] Ugh, such a good movie.

[01:26:21] But also, I'm glad you both did the notes.

[01:26:26] Poor Maria, you have had a time lately.

[01:26:29] No, between like bone dying, babysitting, holidays.

[01:26:33] I'm glad this is our last recording for the year.

[01:26:37] Mm-hmm.

[01:26:38] Mm-hmm.

[01:26:39] Yeah, yeah.

[01:26:39] We usually take December off.

[01:26:41] We need a break.

[01:26:42] Yes.

[01:26:43] Especially when Fern blows our minds.

[01:26:45] I'm not going to stop talking about this.

[01:26:49] It's right up there with my Shinso's quirk works on a quantum level within thought waves.

[01:26:56] I feel like that one's higher.

[01:26:57] Yeah.

[01:26:58] No, no.

[01:26:59] That's a pretty big one.

[01:27:01] That's a pretty high level headcanon.

[01:27:03] Oh, yeah.

[01:27:04] It's stupid.

[01:27:05] Anyway.

[01:27:06] It's not stupid.

[01:27:07] It's amazing and brilliant.

[01:27:08] Thank you.

[01:27:09] And we're all brilliant.

[01:27:10] Yes, we are.

[01:27:11] Also, I'm tired.

[01:27:13] Anything else?

[01:27:15] I gotta go give my cat his drugs.

[01:27:17] I need a pee.

[01:27:19] Bet you do.

[01:27:20] I've been holding it in.

[01:27:22] Oh, all right.

[01:27:23] This has been My Hero Analysis.

[01:27:25] You'll hear us again soon and you'll be annoyed by me specifically.

[01:27:28] But in the meantime, go beyond plus ultra and thirst responsibly and do all the headcanons.

[01:27:36] Bye, y'all.

[01:27:36] Thanks again for listening.

[01:27:38] Theme music is The Happy Cowboy by Gary the Canary, remixed by Fern.
